AAmong the greatest early accomplishments of the second Trump Administration was the shuttering of USAID. It’s great in part because it’s saving billions previously supposedly spent on trans camel surgeries in the third-world, but also because it has shut down innumerable Democrat NGOs and non-profits, including the Democrat National Committee, which, within a month, went broke and had to borrow millions just to keep the lights on.
It seems USAID’s money—taxpayer money—wasn’t just spent on bizarre, leftist boondoggles overseas. It largely funded the Democrat Party and their cronies in America. Smart, that Trump guy.
A recent, tear-drenched New York Times article spoke of the tragedy of six-figure government employees, now out of a job and unable to find work due to the cruelty of Trump:

It is no accident or coincidence that Trump and DOGE went after USAID shortly after taking office. I know I am not alone in this, and I wondered "Why is he focusing this time and effort to trim the fat or wholly shut down this one agency I have never heard of?"
Now we know. We should have known when Leftist Congressmen and Senators flocked to try to block DOGE from getting inside or to gain access themselves, but it is apparent now.
USAID was a gigantic taxpayer money laundering service to not only put money back in the hands of Democrats and the DNC, but to put our damned money into the hands of Leftist non-profits sucking the teat of the taxpayer, and funneling that money into the pockets of organizations, foreign and domestic, who are hostile to the United States and the principles of our Constitution.
I have compassion, many conservatives do for people who have lost their jobs, but this man (oilfieldrando on X) explained it in a way that framed it perfectly:
"...When the world shut down over a 99.9999% survivable virus, I had to tell a few dozen rig hands they were out of a job. Then I had to tell even more frac hands. Then snubbing hands. Then I went home to wait for my layoff. Then I spent 6 months applying for jobs with no interviews because corporate America had banned White men in honor of Saint George Floyd, Patron Saint of Fentanyl. A great Twitter friend who I am indebted to forever got me a job with a 25% pay cut, and I had to work physically harder than I had in a decade. Anyway. Nobody in news media ever reached out for my story. And it wasn't a unique story, I was one of a couple hundred thousand guys..."
So when I hear that thousands of government workers, some like the one described at the beginning of this article by the execrable New York Times" making $272,000 a year as a senior VP at a U.S.A.l.D.-funded nonprofit when she was let go at the end of March 2025. Last month she had an online interview for a $19-an-hour job managing a Penzeys Spices store in Falls Church, Va." being let go, and having to accept a $19/hour job because she did not possess a $272,000 skillset in a free market, it made me think of this:
Hee hee .... me, too!
Only ... meme *should* say ... Leftists and TDSers ....
Several right here on this forum!
Every bureaucrat destroys 138 private sector jobs
I love it!!!
They are really shocked because now they can’t get grift/kickbacks from USAID. How else will a congresscritter make millions?
“Help! I’ve been laid off by Donald Trump!”
“Don’t think you have, mate.”
That is absolutely tragic… But your post made me spit my drink!
Penzeys Spices Is a left wing outfit.
“Every bureaucrat destroys 138 private sector jobs”
I believe this statistic, you made me turn to Grok, and it’s absolutely true:

It’s a great article… I’m a big fan of Mike McDaniels over American Thinker. He’s very prolific too… I’ve seen him sometimes have two articles and a given day.
I feel sad.... knowing that I could have experienced this many years ago but happy that I do get to hear about it now. Question for the group, did Thomas Massie or Rand Paul ever do anything remotely this effective in all the years of grandstanding?
Let me know when it effects the real estate market in northern VA and southern Maryland.
This area has been pretty much recession proof for as long as I can remember.
Even during the Great Recession when almost the economy of the entire country was going down the Beltway and DC were doing just fine. Nobody in the Federal Government took a pay cut. They continued to grow the government.
I remember when my younger brother who is now retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons complained to me during the Great Recession that he didn’t get a cost of living increase that year. I literally blew up at him. Telling him he should be grateful to have a job. That I had taken a 50% cut in pay over the last year. But was happy to have a job(the glass is half full). My younger brother fully retired at age 55.
The Auburn University study cited in the article you linked is where I got that statistic.
I had a woman that I worked with in the past, who was very well educated, smart, intelligent, professional…everything along those lines.
But it was clear to me that she and I were not simpatico on political issues. She was an absolute major leftist. Not a liberal… A leftist.
I gleaned this from little snippets of our extensive conversations we often had, and it was indisputable to me in my mind that she and I absolutely did not see things I’d die on politics. However, I kept it completely professional, and so did she. In the workplace.
She used to give me a Christmas present every year, when nobody else did because they stopped doing that kind of thing at my workplace, but I would come in and find a little bag of stuff in it. Sometimes it was tea, sometimes it was jams…
But just this often it would be Penzy’s spices.
I did not know that it was a Left wing outfit, and rabidly so until someone clued me in on it.
If they ever did, I certainly never heard of it.
Good riddance to Massie, and I’m hoping we can do the same to Rand Paul in 2028.
Question for the group, did Thomas Massie or Rand Paul ever do anything remotely this effective in all the years of grandstanding?

The question can be asked, and I think answered the same way, about anybody else in Congress.
Exactly. I remember thinking it curious that they went right at USAID with all their big guns in DOGE, but I thought it was just kind of a warm-up, to get their feet wet.
It turns out in retrospect, that Trump and his team were clued in, and going straight to the jugular. There’s a lot of left-wing organizations out there that are hurting for money now that it’s not “free“.
I would posit that dealing with unnecessary and useless government regulations accounts for 1/4 of my budget, especially HR compliance.
Y’all should start looking up the IRS form 990s of all the 501c3’s in your neighborhood...look at the salaries, then dig deeper into payments. 501c3’s have become a racket.
