Moment dying student tells police ‘I have been stabbed’ but is handcuffed after killer’s racism lie [Henry Nowak]

This is the moment a student dying from a 7cm stab wound to his chest is handcuffed by police.

In body-worn camera footage, Henry Nowak says ‘I can’t breathe’ as police officers handcuff him.

Weapons-obsessed killer Vickrum Digwa, 23, can be heard telling officers he was the victim with a swollen eye and insists his victim wasn’t stabbed.

Nowak, dying in a pool of blood on the drive of a Hampshire home, can be heard calling out ‘I’ve been stabbed’ three times before an officer replies ‘You’ve been stabbed? Whereabouts? I don’t think you have mate’.

He is placed into cuffs, calling out ‘I can’t breathe’ as officers decide what to do next.

They put him on his side and check for his wounds. He is placed under arrest on suspicion of assault before the same officer says ‘He’s going to be sick I think’.

A female officer is heard calling for an ambulance as another says ‘His pupils aren’t even reacting’ to her torch.

Digwa has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years for the murder of the University of Southampton student.

That is a three minute video. The police response is better than I expected.

The perp is right there giving misinformation, otherwise they might have figured it out a bit sooner.

But, not sure if the police could have responded much better.

Not arresting him would have been better - but the perp is right there being an eye-witness claiming the victim is the perp.

The victim did not say where he had been stabbed when they asked him. That would have helped. The police are not seeing the blood from the stab wound, the dark sweater doesn’t help.

They need to be applying direct pressure on the wounds to stop the bleeding, but first they have to find them.

0:57. Police pull him out from behind the car where they can get around him. They sit him up.
“What happened to ya, right”

Victim “I’ve been stabbed.”
Police “You’ve been stabbed, where abouts”
“I don’t think you have mate”. (no obv bleeding?)

Audio is pretty bad... I think the perp is saying something ending in ‘...nothing happened

Lady police: Where has he been stabbed, in the face?
??? I know but we have to check, don’t we.

2:24. Could not make out much of it. Police reads him the standard arrest for assault. Gets lady office to check him.
