Zelensky pushes for major drone deal with US while warning of massive upcoming Russian attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday said he is still hoping to land a major deal to buy advanced US military drones, saying it would be a potentially “huge’’ game-changer in the war.

His comments came as he warned that Ukraine was set to be brutally pummeled by Russia by air again for the second week in a row.

Zelensky argued that fusing the dramatic advancements Ukraine has made with its drone technology because of its battlefield experience against Moscow with America’s remarkable military capabilities would be “huge” and beneficial for both countries.

“American technological companies, they have a lot of different interesting AI technologies, what we don’t have. And we have a lot of things [that] they don’t have, because [of] our experience,” Zelensky told CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

“I think this cooperation can be huge and the most powerful in the world.”

While the US and Ukraine have had some cooperation on drones, there hasn’t been a comprehensive deal signed at the scale Zelensky has in mind, according to the Ukrainian leader.

The war-torn country is aiming to crank out a massive 7 million drones this year alone for both use in the skies and water.

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has put an emphasis on building up American drone capabilities and recently told reporters that the Pentagon “learned so much from Ukraine and how they operate.”

Weren’t we recently told that Ukraine had the best drone technology now? Yeah, that they got from the US.

I think we’re giving Ukraine a lot more help than people think, but it’s “under the table”.

Why doesn’t the runt, Zelensky, scream at the EU instead bugging the US all the time? We’ve already got our own military operation going on and the stupid EU sits on it’s hands through it all while their people are getting mowed over, raped and knifed.

We are, I sometimes come across examples that I don’t bother to save or post about, but personally note that we help Ukraine a lot.

Even Russia’s people here know it, as revealed by their complaints that it holds Russia back from completing their invasion.

We did the same before we entered WWII with aiding Britain, but it was all hush-hush.

It would be nice if we would refill our supplies instead of giving everything away.

“”””Weren’t we recently told that Ukraine had the best drone technology now? Yeah, that they got from the US.””””

There are different levels of drones, usage, and training.

The Pentagon Is Learning Drone Warfare From Ukraine
“Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told senators this week that U.S. military personnel have been sent to Ukraine to study how drones are used in combat.”

U.S. Military Adopts Battle-Tested Ukrainian Hornet Kamikaze Drones
“Several Ukrainian companies have already brought their technology to the U.S. In March, General Cherry, one of Ukraine’s largest drone manufacturers, signed a deal to make unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the U.S. alongside American military manufacturer Wilcox Industries.

Ukraine and U.S. move toward landmark drone defense deal as Iran war highlights capabilities, and necessities
“The Pentagon has also invited Ukrainian companies to participate in its Drone Dominance initiative, a $1.1 billion program aimed at identifying drones for U.S. military contracts.”

In retrospect, we shouldn't have intervened. The British Empire was strong enough to hold out on its own. In the meantime, we should have focused on Japan.

Ukraine? It appears to be a mistake for us to assist Ukraine. Even if Putin ended up seizing Ukraine, it's probably unlikely that Russia will be able to occupy the country indefinitely.

Best would have been to do what they should have done during WWI, let Russia and Germany bash each others brains in, and enjoy the popcorn.

We also have American troops in Ukraine being trained by them.

Similar to Trump having American troops in Ukraine training them to fight the Russians, during his first term.

The US engaged in a massive drone campaign, with reports indicating over
2,000 one-way-attack drones were used against Iranian targets early in the war.

Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists reported U.S. Action Deployed LUCAS
(Uncrewed Combat Attack System) loitering drones, along with MQ-9B Reaper UAVs.

Israel Deployed Hermes-900 surveillance and one-way loitering drones.

The campaign was aimed at Iran’s drone production, assembly sites, and launchers, including destroying over 19+ Shahed-136/Arash-2 drones in initial strikes. ——— The Washington Institute

This campaign successfully neutralized much of Iran’s
capacity for massed drone volleys by early March 2026.——— Al Jazeera

Determining precisely how much of Iran’s drone arsenal has been destroyed is difficult via open-source information alone...The Washington Institute

--- "...still hoping to land a major deal...."

Not even a year ago, those representing a population and GDP supposedly larger than these United States sat before President Trump....

Poland's Tusk told us a few months earlier....

“500 million Europeans are asking 300 million Americans to defend them against 140 million Russians. [...] Europe today lacks the belief that we are truly a global force.”

Polish PM Donald Tusk, speaking before his flight to London for the European Ukraine summit: X, 2 March 2025

Tell Trump and Hegseth, don’t tell me, but I don’t think they will quit recognizing Russia as the enemy.
