A Detroit federal judge on Thursday ordered Comerica Bank to turn over $13,167 to the federal government to help pay down the $823,649 he still owes in restitution from his 2013 public corruption case.
U.S. District Judge Stephen J. Murphy III rejected Kilpatrick's argument that the money was in his wife's business account, Pathfinder Consulting Firm, LLC, and therefore did not belong to him. Prosecutors argued they were entitled to garnish the funds to help pay Kilpatrick's restitution.
In issuing his written ruling, the judge wrote that Kilpatrick failed to properly request a hearing, as required by law, and failed to raise proper legal arguments in court filings. Murphy also noted that Kilpatrick's wife and her company failed to file objections.
Kilpatrick declined to comment Friday morning to Deadline Detroit.
Robert Snell of The Detroit News first reported the story.
Back in March, when the issue first surfaced, Kilpatrick told Deadline Detroit the attempt to garnish the money was "unjustified."
"This Comerica business account, along with my own personal account have been points of open and honest discussions with federal authorities since December," Kilpatrick said at the time. "I do not have, nor have I ever had, an account at Comerica Bank. The targeting of her business and its associated properties is unjustified, selective and deeply concerning."
"Let me be clear: this action has nothing to do with restitution, nor with any attempt to conceal assets. In fact, in my effort to be transparent and cooperative, I provided full and accurate financial disclosures. As well as lived a model life, and work diligently to be a blessing to my family and community since returning from prison."

But if it was, Kwame would be the first to tell ya about it.

Commutation of sentence
On January 20, 2021, President Donald Trump commuted Kilpatrick’s sentence with less than 12 hours remaining before the end of his first non-consecutive term.[134] The White House statement on the commutation of Kilpatrick reads: “Mr. Kilpatrick has served approximately 7 years in prison for his role in a racketeering and bribery scheme while he held public office. During his incarceration, Mr. Kilpatrick has taught public speaking classes and has led Bible Study groups with his fellow inmates.”[134]
President Trump’s commutation allowed Kilpatrick to gain release 20 years early, though it did not vacate his conviction.[7] The commutation left in place the almost $4.8 million in restitution and the three-year probation.[135] Kilpatrick will not be able to run for office in Michigan until 2033 as a felon is excluded from politics for 20 years after conviction under Michigan law.[136]
On June 15, 2024, Kilpatrick endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 United States presidential election.[150]
Hahahaha
“Let me be clear...”

GOOD. Kwame & Coleman: Two of the most corrupt mayors in the history of Detroit.
I know some of the C/O’s that were responsible for supervising him. He was a whiny little pain in the a$$, writing grievances and claiming health issues which didn’t exist.
CC
Detroit used to be the richest city in the USA.
Then the Democrats took over!
Detroit was also called the Paris of the Midwest at that time, before democrats took over.

The house my mother and aunt grew up in is long gone and so is the whole damned street, and one that my dad and uncles grew up in is also gone now. Both of my parents went to Pershing HS, and Dad’s time there was back when the Four Tops and Temptations were just starting out doing impromptu a cappella harmonies out on the sidewalks.
I think his old lady must’ve been giving him a hard time. What did she know and when did she know it? And there’s still the unsolved murder of “Strawberry”, the pole dancer.
I wonder if that includes the interest on $823k over 13 years?
If it doesn’t, it should. Trump set Kwame free and that’s the thanks he gets. Kwame endorsed Trump 47 but it’s not enough, and rightly so.
