[Translated from German] Since Thursday morning, a major police operation has been underway at Winterthur train station. Several areas and stairways around the new pedestrian and bicycle underpass are cordoned off.
An eyewitness, who works across from the cordoned-off area, tells this editorial office that a man of middle age shouted 'Allahu Akbar' (God is great) around 8:30 a.m. and stabbed four men with a knife. At that very moment, a school class also passed the scene. The teacher then positioned herself protectively in front of the children.
Another witness, a taxi driver, confirms that a man had been running around the underpass area and attacking people.

Roughly the same headline in Neue Zürcher Zeitung, the German Swiss newspaper of record:
Ein Mann soll «Allahu akbar» gerufen und auf mehrere Personen eingestochen haben: Grosseinsatz am Bahnhof Winterthur
Salami and bacon on special at the Aloha Snackbar !
Pre-meditating mass murderer.
‘Allahu Akbar’ does NOT mean God is great. It means, “Our God is Greater!”
Or:
“Allah is Greatest”
It is a superiorist battle cry.
In today’s Akhbar Report, we see scattered beheadings with a small chance of truck bombs, with a light breeze of knifings from the South.

Yes! Correct. Your definition is more accurate
Terrible.
Now the blight has reached once-safe Switzerland as well…😔
I caught you not perfectly correct in something?
Mark this day!
I’ve been watching you and your intellect and erudition.
I saw ‘translated from German’ and thought that it would be followed by a statement that authorities couldn’t determine a motive.
But it is Swiss, not Germany, and the folks there still have some common sense.
How does that work? I thought Muslims were monoteists, but if their God is greater (than other Gods, I assume) that means that Allah is not the only one, or have I misunderstood?
Sorry, I should have read all the comments before posting my reply. I see the discussion you had with Uncle M.
“Allah is greatest” as he translated it may not necessarily mean in comparison with other gods, but just compared to all living things.
Still, a battle cry used to express dominance.
“Allah”, the moon god of Mohammed’s Quraysh tribe in Arabia (Petra), was chosen as the Islamic god when Mohammed cleared out the Kaaba of its 360 gods.
Arab expert and historian Dan Gibson has done the best scholarly work on the subject of Mohammed’s beginnings, his god, and the Islamic faith. His videos on YouTube are incredibly informative. Particularly about Petra as the birthplace of Islam
So much for the sanctity of “the Cube”. Thanks! :-)
