Ghana has welcomed Pope Leo XIV's apology for the Catholic Church's historic role in slavery, describing it as an "act of moral courage" that was important in the global pursuit of "truth, human dignity and justice".
The Pope issued the clearest apology yet for the Church's involvement in legitimising slavery and its delay in condemning it for centuries.
The apology was published on Monday in the Pope's first major teaching document of his papacy, which also focused on the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI).
Ghana was a major hub for the transatlantic slave trade when millions of people were captured and loaded on to ships, never to return home.
Between the 16th and 19th Centuries, 12-15 million Africans were shipped to the Caribbean, with about two million dying during the journey.
Ghana has long been a leading efforts for compensation and apologies from Western nations for the slave trade

Along side Muslims will the African nations who sold other Africans into slavery give reparations? It started with them
No and neither will the tribes that sold the slaves to the white devils.
What will he apologize for next? Because once you start down this path, there is a long, long, long list of things that an organization that has been around for 2,000+ years could apologize for. Go through every single wrong position that the Church has taken throughout its history and apologize for it. Then apologize for the things that the Church is wrong about today that it won’t realize that it is wrong about until a hundred or a thousand years from now.
This POS fake pope can speak for the commies and homos, not real Catholics, who, last I checked, have never owned slaves. It’s presumptuous to apologize for dead people.

Put the blame where it belongs. There was disrespect for certain kinds of humanity by other more aggressive kinds of humanity for thousands of years, and one by one, the spirit of justice and the common bonds of humanity, abolished slavery almost everywhere in the world.

Apostasy is the formal disaffiliation from, abandonment of, or renunciation of a religion, or certain of its beliefs. It is built into the very structure of Islam, and without a vast rewrite, cannot be separated from the core belief.

I believe the Kingdom of Ghana was the big slave trader in western Africa. They captured their neighbors and sold them to Europeans. They also practiced the Voodoo religion.

Ghana was a center of the slave trade means that there were Ghanians running slave markets, where they would buy slaves from other Africans then sell them to Europeans.
The Europeans weren’t blameless, but the Ghanians weren’t innocent victims.
