Iran has asserted expanded control over the Strait of Hormuz, publishing a map showing its claims extending into the coastal waters of the United Arab Emirates and Oman, and holding talks with Oman about sharing fees from ships traversing the waterway.
The move was denounced on Friday as unacceptable by US Secretary of State Mario Rubio, who urged all countries to oppose it, and prompted a letter of protest from five Gulf states. US President Donald Trump on Thursday stressed, “We want [the Strait of Hormuz] open, we want it free. We don’t want tolls. It’s an international waterway.”
Iran’s newly created Persian Gulf Strait Authority announced the new arrangements on Wednesday, declaring there would henceforth be a “controlled maritime zone” at the strait.
The authority set the zone as the “line connecting Kuh-e Mobarak in Iran and southern Fujairah in the UAE at the eastern side of the strait, to the line connecting the end of Qeshm Island in Iran and Umm Al Quwain in the UAE at the western side of the strait,” and published a map of the designated area in both English and Persian.
“Transit in this zone for passage through the Strait of Hormuz requires coordination with the Persian Gulf Strait Authority and permission from this entity,” it declared.

is it a parking lot yet?????
why not?
Drop some bombs on the leadership and be done with it.
Park destroyers along the coast and blast anything that targets them from Iran
Trump is going to have to flush twice.
Really rotten turds are stubborn.
An Imam a day into Hormuz bay.
Hopefully, the Persians can regain a normal life when the evil is gone.
What kind of bullshit is this?
Afghanistan was tough — rag-tag insurgents living in caves. How do you “win” against that?
Iran is tough — there is no government. No one is going to surrender because there isn’t anyone in charge. How do you “win” that war? How do you negotiate peace?
It actually seems easier when your opponent has 100 divisions set up on a defensive line. Hard fighting, to be sure — but at least you can see what victory might look like.
SOMEONE is not getting the message across, or someone is not giving the messenger full authority to get the message across with subsequent enforcement for not heeding the message. I have repeatedly said that I am available.
What the hell is their leverage to demand anything? No navy, no air force, senior leadership taken out...what is making them think they can get away with acting like none of this happened? Do they really think that Trump won’t finish the job/
It can publish what it wants, but it doesn’t have the capability at this time to exert control.
I think they want to provoke people into a full war.
Hands up if you’re surprised...
“Drop some bombs on the leadership and be done with it.”
The political leadership is roughly 10,000 imams. The military leadership is the IRCG, which is a distributed organization of some unknown number of high-ranking officers. Each officer is pretty much on his own as far as being able to decide targets. The general philosophy guiding the military leadership is that they must produce the conditions for bringing back the twelfth IMAM. He returns when the Middle East is erupting in fire in The Apocalypses, which will result in “paradise on Earth.”
There is nothing in Western thinking that can be applied to this situation. The war cannot end from the “Twelvers” perspective because it will mean the collapse of their vision to bring about The Apocalypse and thus ruin the possibility of paradise on Earth. If that sounds bonkers crazy, then you’re getting the picture. We’re dealing with insanity...from our perspective. On account of the Apocalypse means we’re all dead so how would that be paradise? It’s the same as dying so you can collect your 72 virgins. From the Western perspective you’ll be dead and not have the organ you’d like to use on your virgins. From their perspective (fill in crazy here.)
I’s long past time the Arab nations destroy Iran. They are as useless as NATO in defending themselves
The US Navy has two “stateless” tankers, allegedly Iranian, that could move oil through the Strait of Hormuz.
I would imagine the Iranians would not be keen to sink their own tankers.
I would imagine Iranian fishermen would not like to see their catch coated with oil from a sunken ship.
One tanker was shown by CNN as it was allegedly transferring oil to another tanker.
This tanker was said to be able to carry 1.7 million barrels.
The two tankers could be used to transport UAE oil out of the Gulf. Kuwaiti oil could be sent to UAE by other tankers, either for UAE domestic use or for further transport by one of the two US Navy tankers.
The mere idea might send oil prices downward, saving American drivers money.
To greatly reduce the risk of attack, Congress could authorize Trump to have another 60 days if:
1. any US flagged vessel is attacked while passing through the international waters of the Persian Gulf or the waters of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Oman,
2. an Iranian vessel, missile or torpedo enters the waters or airspace claimed by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE or Oman within four miles of a US vessel,
3. an Iranian vessel fails to promptly and harmlessly sail to Iranian coastal waters when signaled by US military flare.
Does anybody here think Iranian thugs want Trump to have another 60 days to whack them?
There is a way to drop oil and gas prices fast.
Woe be it to Democrats or Republicans if they fail to support such a plan.
Trump blinked. Now Iran thinks it holds the high cards.
That’s nothing! I’m in the process of publishing a map of the globe showing myself controlling the whole thing.
I hope someone is telling Trump this!
I also hope he’s not dismissing it as nonsense. - ‘Thinking no one thinks that way!’.
The political clock is ticking and the IRGC knows every day is closer to victory.
Right of Transit Passage in International Straits
Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the “right of transit passage” is the legal entitlement of all ships and aircraft to pass through straits used for international navigation between one part of the high seas or an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and another such part, without interference from the coastal States Naciones Unidas+1.
Legal Basis
Article 37 of UNCLOS defines “straits used for international navigation” as narrow waterways that connect two high seas or EEZs and are routinely used for international traffic legalclarity.org.
Article 38 grants transit passage to all vessels and aircraft, including military ones, for the sole purpose of continuous and expeditious transit through the strait Naciones Unidas+1.
This right is broader than innocent passage and cannot be suspended by a coastal State, even for security reasons thelegalhubb.com.

“On 4 February 2026, RTX announced an agreement with the US Department of Defense to increase Tomahawk production to over 1,000 units per year with a 7-year production agreement”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomahawk_missile
“The Tomahawk Block V carries an official FY2026 unit cost of $2.5 million, though contract prices range from $1.75 million to $4.1 million depending on variant and order size.”
Each day of chatting with Iranian deceivers costs the taxpayers as much as 200 Tomahawks.
Those 200 Tomahawks could hit 31 Iranian refineries about six times in one day.
Commander Israeli, would you like to Tomahawk Iran’s oil refineries?
