Hell hath no fury like a Republican senator scorned by his own party’s president.
After Sen. Bill Cassidy fell far short in his Louisiana primary, the longtime Republican lawmaker delivered a concession speech that took some unsubtle shots at the president who orchestrated his defeat. “When you participate in democracy, sometimes it doesn’t turn out the way you want it to,” the senator said. “But you don’t pout, you don’t whine, you don’t claim the election was stolen.”
In the same concession speech, the Louisianian said, “Let me just set the record straight: Our country is not about one individual. It is about the welfare of all Americans, and it is about our Constitution. And if someone doesn’t understand that and attempts to control others by using the levers of power, they’re about serving themselves. They’re not about serving us. And that person is not qualified to be a leader.”
Cassidy didn’t mention Donald Trump by name, but he didn’t have to. His point wasn’t exactly subtle.
The next question was whether the senator was prepared to follow through on his Saturday night remarks and become a thorn in the side of the president responsible for ending his career.
As the week got underway, the Republican lawmaker, who still has 228 days remaining in his term, downplayed the idea that he would use his office to retaliate against the White House. Since then, Cassidy has:

He would be a problem if he won the nomination, too, but longer.
Showing his true colors.
What’s he gonna do? Vote to convict him again? The POS should be tarred and feathered.
Maybe your election wasn't stolen. Maybe you just lost.
The job Cassidy ran for and holds calls for him to represent his state’s voters not quit doing his job and take it over as a personal tool for his feelings against individuals.
Funny
That was my exact thought
Cassidy has been a useless eater as senator. Too bad!
Not while Thune’s around.
Trump doesn’t have a Cassidy problem.
Trump has a Senate problem.
TRUE BLUE Republican senators will not do what it takes to pass Voter ID an issue favored 70 per cent by the so-called oppostion party.
In fact they won’t EVEN allow the senate to take a procedural vote to take a vote.
Trump has spent a term and one-half trying to play nice in order to get some things done.
But Voter ID is the issue where he took the kid gloves off and revealed the TRAITORS in the TRUE BLUE Republican Party.
Schumer and company is lovin’ it.
Do you think any Dem wants to go on the record opposing Voter ID?
But there is only one party in America and this Voter ID issue has revealed that.
But it’s the Republican wing of the uniparty/statist party that is going to take the heat to the Marxist’s wing delight.
Will Cassidy vote for Letlow or Fleming in the runoff? His stand could doom the candidate he endorses.Fleming all the way!
““But you don’t pout, you don’t whine, you don’t claim the election was stolen.””
Generally I agree. But most politicians would indeed pout and whine when an election is truly stolen as was the case with Biden.
Lots of politicians pout and whine.
Most of the time it is left wing politicians, because the old dominant progressive media supported or still supports them.
They not longer control the narrative. Their whining is less and less effective.
WIKI
Cassidy was first elected to the Louisiana State Senate in 2006 as a Republican. He had previously been a Democrat, supporting Michael Dukakis for president in 1988, donating to Senator Paul Tsongas’s 1992 presidential campaign, and to Louisiana Democratic Governor Kathleen Blanco in 2003 and 2004 and Senator Mary Landrieu in 2002. In 2013, Cassidy called his donation to Landrieu a “youthful indiscretion”, saying that she “got elected and fell into partisan politics... Louisiana hasn’t left Mary, Mary has left us.” Since 2001, he has mostly contributed to Republican candidates, including Senator David Vitter. According to Cassidy, he switched parties after the extinction of conservative Democrats and because of his frustration with the bureaucracy and inefficiency of the public hospital system.
On February 5, 2020, Cassidy joined all Republican senators except Mitt Romney in voting to acquit Trump on both articles of impeachment in his first impeachment trial.
Cassidy was in attendance during the 2021 United States Electoral College vote count when Trump supporters stormed the United States Capitol. He tweeted during the attack, calling them “hooligans” and the storming “un-American.” He later said the participants were guilty of sedition “and should be prosecuted as such.” When the Capitol was secured and Congress resumed, Cassidy voted to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Cassidy was one of seven Republican senators to vote to convict Trump of incitement of insurrection in his second impeachment trial. Hours after the vote, the Republican Party of Louisiana censured him. Cassidy was praised by several Democrats, including his predecessor Mary Landrieu.
On May 27, 2021, along with five other Republicans and all Democrats, Cassidy voted to establish a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol. The vote fell short of the 60 required “yes” votes.
In 2023, after Trump was indicted for mishandling classified documents, Cassidy called for Trump to drop out of the 2024 presidential election. When Trump won the Republican nomination, Cassidy declined to endorse him.

MSLSD needs to up their thorazine.
And he will be an arrogant deliberate PITA.
Like Thom[ass] Tillis.
Bill is right about one thing...its not about one man. It’s about an agenda we voted for.
Now, STFU, sit down and stay out of the way. Then take your way too generous pension, suck on some crawdad heads and munch gator fritters.
I doubt that much of anything can get done before the mid term with so many “Republicans” fighting for the deep state and for the Democrats. Republicans always seem to quail at the responsibility of being in the majority. They believe that rightful rule belongs to the Democrats and oppose them just enough to keep from being totally swept away.
and nothing after them if the rats get control of one or both.
Cassidy is a liar and a fake. He got into office as a “conservative” but became a flaming democrat (Rino). It just caught up with him and he is such an immature child that he must try to destroy what is good for the country on his way out. Typical Rino.
Just listening to him speak there’s no doubt he’s a first rate prick.
