Thank God and the Virginia Supreme Court that Democrats' far-left redistricting power-grab got kicked to the curb. Lest you thought that the worst thing about that despicable machination was simply that Virginia Republican voters would be disenfranchised, read on and be enlightened.

ABC News ran a profile of some of the would-be U.S. House reps who have dropped out of the race, now that they would actually have run in districts where normal Americans can vote. But had the Supreme Court in Virginia not ruled the gerrymander attempt unconstitutional, these radicals would be in the U.S. Capitol come January, merrily making laws with nationwide effect.
First up is "Bree" Fram:
Col. Bree Fram, a transgender woman who came out and transitioned while serving in the Air Force and who had joined a lawsuit against the Trump administration over its ban on transgender individuals in the military, suspended her [sic] campaign for the proposed 11th District. She [sic] would have been mounting a primary challenge to incumbent Rep. James Walkinshaw regardless of which map was in place.
Imagine if we had been screwed by this Biden administration, "FU, traditional military" officer fashioning law at the national level...

That’s a disgrace to the uniform. If these freaks insist on being let in they should get ‘special’ uniforms with pink piping and all awards and badges should be trimmed in pink so the normal troops know that the individual is mentally ill and should be treated with respectful caution while seeking out a normal person of authority.

I must be confused (although not as confused as this Fram person) but how can active duty or reserve military members run for office?
This sort of redistricting can cut both ways.
If one party has all their seats concentrated in a set of districts, they have a bunch of safe seats, and they concede the other seats to the opposition. But if that party redistricts, and tries to put just enough of their voters in each district so as to win more districts by a smaller margin, they are running a big risk.
In order not to repel any of your voters, you have to run more centrist candidates, or at least candidates who can be presented as centrist. If you don’t, some of your voters will defect to the other party, and you’ll lose.
This is the Democrat’s dilemma in Virginia. They think they have it figured out, but life as a way of throwing surprises at you.

The fiasco in Virginia should convince anyone who has any doubts about what the Democrats will do if they win control of Congress. Kill the filibuster, admit new states, and stack the Supreme Court. Thankfully Trump will be in power until 2028 but they will make sure not one iota of MAGA or Trump’s agenda will see the light of day until then.
And Minority Leader Thune will be just fine.
