EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced on Monday efforts to combat per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) during a roundtable.
During the roundtable, the EPA proposed advancing a comprehensive, lifecycle-based strategy to address unsafe levels of PFAS, known as "forever chemicals," in drinking water. As part of the new strategy, RFK Jr. announced nearly $1 billion in new funding to states set to address PFAS in drinking water.
"EPA and HHS are addressing PFAS at every stage contamination, exposure to treatment, monitoring and long-term research. Americans want honest science, accountability and policies that improve health outcomes and protect future generations," RFK Jr. said.
This announcement is a reversal of legal protections adopted in 2024 under the Biden administration, which EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said did not comply with the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

2) Mr Zeldin said, “The Trump EPA is committed to Make America Healthy Again by ensuring clean air, land, and water – and by taking on Pfas the right way, across the full life cycle and built to last,”
NB :
PFAS are a class of at least 16,000 compounds most frequently used to make products water-, stain- and grease-resistant. They have been linked to cancer, birth defects, decreased immunity, high cholesterol, kidney disease and a range of other serious health problems. They are dubbed “forever chemicals” because they do not naturally break down in the environment.
These agencies need to be outright abolished, not continuing to spend more money we do not have causing the price of our food and fuel to go up even more.
We all know what money printing results in. Inflation.
My cat is 9 now. I’ve NEVER put tap water in her water bowl. She and I drink only filtered, purified water, make coffee with it too. . I get refillable glass gallon jugs. Every supermarket here has purified water machines where I get refills, plus I have a PUR water rilter on kitchen sink. This is not rocket science.
Nor is it expensive. One-gallon refill is 29 - 45 cents, depending on the store. Natural Grocer, the all-organic market is 29 cents.
Whatever you say, say it soon because the junk in tap water may kill you. I haven’t had a sip of it for decades. My cat NEVER had any ..
Will be 90 in a few weeks, very slim, healthy happy old lady. Work out at the gym. Climb 20 stairs several times a day. Weigh 112 lbs. Laugh a lot.
It’ll be 80 for me on July 8th.
Happy Birthdaay!
I love the aging game.
Sure as heck beats the alternative.
$1B? Just tell people to get a recommended under-sink Reverse Osmosis system for their drinking water. The things aren’t expensive and it won’t require an inefficient and ineffective permanent government infrastructure and the funding to support it.
Why are there peas in my drinking water?
...nearly $1 billion in new funding to states set to address PFAS in drinking water...
One can only wonder how much of this $1 billion will actually go towards the stated goal. Accountability is seldom used in any of these grants/loans.
Between automobiles, vacation and add-ons to the house, there won’t be much left. The ‘program’ itself is just an accounting gimmick.
Purified water won’t save you because these forever chemicals are in all your food.
THAT ISN’T THE WORST PROBLEM:
DATA CENTERS ARE HOGGING THE WATER-—
DOESN’T MATTER ABOUT THE MICRO PARTICLES...WHEN THERE IS NO LONGER WATER.......
Another reason not to spend the $1B.
Good idea if you have glass bottles
Guess I need to look into reverse osmosis system
Don’t have to worry about getting to the store then!
Good reminder!!
I take a gallon plastic bottle to store, fill it, pour into glass bottle at home. Don’t want to run around town with gallon glass bottle or carry it up 14 steps. Tiny shards of broken glass would be awful for my cats.
“Ve haf Vays” as my friend from Berlin used to say
