Cuba says it has no plans to attack, following report country acquired 300 drones from Iran, Russia

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez said Monday that his country has no "aggressive plans or intentions" to attack any country including the United States – following a news report that the Communist-run island nation has acquired over 300 drones with possible plans to use them to attack American military vessels, the U.S. military base at Guantanomo Bay, Cuba, and possibly Key West, Florida.

According to Axios, which based its report on classified intelligence that was shared by a U.S. official, the findings could become a pretext for U.S. military action against Cuba.

The official said that the proximity of the island to the U.S. – combined with the technology coming from terror groups, Iran, Russia and drug cartels — makes the drones especially concerning.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe met with Cuban officials in Havana on Thursday as the island nation grapples with a collapse of its energy sector, in large part because it has run out of oil.

Cuba said the meeting was held at the request of the United States government and that officials emphasized in the meeting that Cuba does not pose a "threat to the national security of the U.S."

After the Axios report, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez posted on X that his country "poses no threat" to the United States and doesn't have "aggressive plans or intentions against any country,"

The Cuban president didn't specifically mention the reported drones, but rather, criticized what he described as "threats of military aggression against Cuba from the world's greatest power" and defended Cuba's "absolute and legitimate right to defend itself against a military onslaught."

I suppose Axios didn't name the "U.S. official" to protect them from prosecution for sharing classified intelligence.

Or because no such official exists.

This is the range of a Shahed drone from Cuba it’s as far or further than the missiles during the Cuban missile crisis.

Look at all the infrastructure in range, note the MIC targets in range too.

Well yeah not carrying nukes for sure. But lob 50-100kg of thermite times 50 hits on any one of those refineries and they are having a bad day. Look at what Ukraine has been doing to Russian refineries with similar drones. $10 gallon gas would be cheap if they hit corpus or Texas city. We don’t have C-RAMs set up around any of them.

Or worse they load them up with a biological agent and drop them into drinking water lakes, or just dust fentanyl over the cities encapsulated in a emulsion so it stays micron sized as it drifts down. Same same for any number of nasty bugs. The holy grail is micron sized but UV stable Ebola , or Marburg or any of the hemorrhagic fever virus.

You can do a lot of nasty things with 50 kg of payload.

"According to Axios, which based its report on classified intelligence that was shared by a U.S. official"

In other words, a nothingburger.

When sharing intelligence with the press hurts the President, you can be sure it is not a controlled leak approved by the President. Axios is left wing. Anyone sharing intel with them like this is trying to hurt Trump.

Cuba's military is barely functional. Unlike Iran, their government is not suicidal. The Castro family does not need to be told what will happen to them if they attack the United States.
