NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Tennessee judge has denied a request for a temporary restraining order in a lawsuit over the state's new congressional districts, court documents show.
Judge William L. Campbell, Jr., the Chief U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of Tennessee, issued the order on Thursday. In it, Campbell said the reasons for the denial would be in a "forthcoming Memorandum."
Additionally, Campbell's order also canceled a hearing set for May 20.
The lawsuit was filed by multiple Tennessee Democrats, including the current representative for District 9, Steve Cohen, as well as the Tennessee Democratic Party following the state General Assembly redrawing the state's congressional districts to split its only majority-minority district, comprised largely of Memphis, into three different districts.
Tennessee Republicans said their reason for redrawing the districts was purely to attempt to give Republicans their best possible chance to maintain their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Sweet...
I find it interesting that State Congressional maps vary wrt whether large cities are the center of a District or are chopped up and “shared” with surrounding lands.
Politics seem to be involved.
[I use the Congressional Districts of Utah over the last few decades as an example...]
Makes sense to chop it up if it gains you seats. Makes sense to make it its own district if it gains you seats(this is how it should be imo, regardless.)
“Additionally, Campbell’s order also canceled a hearing set for May 20.”
Additionally and also in the same sentence.
Tennessee House speaker Cameron Sexton delivered a clear message to the Democrat caucus:
<><>every member of the Dem House Caucus is stripped of all standing committee
<><>and stripped of subcommittee assignments
<><>this follows Dems conduct at a special session on congressional redistricting.
<><>Dems incited disruptions inside the Capitol,
<><>Dems set fires, attacked l/e law enforcement officers,
<><>and turned the legislative chamber into a circus.
<><>Sexton said, “Dems political terrorism will not be tolerated in the State.”
