U.S. Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., on Wednesday cast the deciding vote against the latest effort to limit President Donald Trump’s ability to attack Iran — the seventh such time he’s broken with his party since the war began but the first time that Republican deflections made his vote decisive.
The war powers resolution failed 49 to 50 as the Pennsylvanian was the only Democrat to vote with Republicans who control the Senate. Three Republicans — U.S. Sens. Rand Paul, of Kentucky; Susan Collins, of Maine; and Lisa Murkowski, of Alaska — voted with Democrats.
The vote comes less than a week after Fetterman published a column in The Washington Post pushing back on speculation that he may switch parties after a string of high-profile disagreements with fellow Democrats.
Fetterman hasn’t wavered in his support for the war that Trump unliterally launched Feb. 28.

Dump the 3 POSs!
The Great Compromise strikes again. Repealing the 17th Amendment would be a start.
Thank God for John Fetterman….
Trump’s war with the Mullahs and IRGC needs to be limited to winning....
**Thank God for John Fetterman….**
Did you ever think you’d be saying that when he was elected? Almost unimaginable. I don’t know what happened to him, but I like it.
I think many more politicians should suffer a debilitating stroke that nearly kills them. If it leads to a reversal of actions like Fetterman has gone through.
He almost died. That’s what happened to him.
God has a way of opening your eyes when you’re in that stage between life and death. Trust me, I know.
How is it “Trump’s war” any more than the bombing of Serbia was Clinton’s war?
Well now I’m impressed. Up until this he has not voted against the rats when his vote made any difference. This is a pretty big deal. We have 3 despicable traitors.
Same here. I am very happy that he has a conscience vote. Collins and Murkowski only vote this way to be re-elected. Rand Paul confuses me. If I lived in Kentucky (one state away), I would be voting for the challengers. Paul has his moments, but he’s gutless when it comes time to do something significant.
The stance on is issue is more egregious than the Democrats refusing to allow Ford to reinvigorate the South Vietnamese after they defeated the NVA in 1972. The Iranian leadership has a sociopathic commitment to terrorism involving the intimidation and use of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles to control all economic activity involving the Persian Gulf. Those capabilities have to be eliminated. This issue is not equivalent to a debate about food stamps.
50-49, who didn’t vote?
I’d argue it’s more than 3, but at least 3 on THIS vote!
I remember when all the freepers made fun of and loathed Fetterman. I was one of them. He sure has been a pleasant surprise... for our side, and disliked by the Rats more than we dislike Massie.
He should just go ahead and switch party.
Fetterman...
But How Is He Dressing These Days,
A Hoody with Shorts and Tennies?

Dare I say, more Trump 4D chess? Endorses Oz in a purple district, he wins the primary, turns on the flakiness after Trump promises him a job in the administration, loses in a sympathy vote to Fetterman, who was quite possibly the last blue dog dem left. /jk
I like him. I never thought I’d say that. When he’s up for re-election in ‘28, can he win enough votes to win the Jackass primary to keep his seat?
He ought to take the advice from his Republican colleagues: switch parties as the alternative may be to lose his seat. He may not want to run again rather than lose the nomination or switch parties.
Wow.
Did not see that coming.
Maybe his alleged political transition is serious?
