WASHINGTON — Accused White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter Cole Allen pleaded not guilty at a Monday hearing in DC federal court to charges including attempting to assassinate President Trump.
Allen, 31, is also charged with assault on law enforcement, transporting a firearm across state lines to commit a felony and discharging a weapon during a crime of violence.
He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Allen’s attorneys have argued that the attack’s occurrence during the annual black-tie gala — which hosted several Trump cabinet officials in addition to the president — should force the recusal of Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro from prosecuting their client.
The former Torrance, Calif., teacher had been kept on suicide watch following the April 25 shooting at the Washington Hilton, during which Allen allegedly shot a Secret Service agent in his bulletproof vest before being subdued.

YES, but ideally it never should’ve gotten this far. That POS should have been eliminated by armed personnel at the event.
So this is opposite his stated manifesto stating clearly what he wanted and planned to do.

I predict that his lifespan after acquittal would be shorter than his post-conviction lifespan.
Makes sense. I mean, he traveled by train all the way from California to Washington DC with his firearms just to charge at random federal and local agents in a hotel while brandishing his shotgun.
36 doctors lined up as character witnesses to say he did the reasonable thing, terming it exterminatin rather than assassination, if fact they inited him.
They should be charging the secret service dog guy and agents at the gate for attempted murder for waving the guy through the security checkpoint and then retreating!?!

It’s a pretty hard case if he hadn’t posted a video saying he intended to kill Trump simply because he was so far from target.
He did shoot a secret service agent, so there’s that.
I hope they have catch all terrorism and murder type charges.
Did he shoot an agent? Watch the video and look at the LEO bottom left. It looks like five rounds were fired moving left to right. Where did they impact? There were other LEO in those lanes of fire.
I thought he nailed a guy in his vest.
DC jury will never convict him. They will see his actions as an attempted justifiable homicide.
