The flight of the productive from our major cities has been going on for a while now, but nothing seems to pour accelerant on that flight faster than the election of a "democratic socialist" (you can read that as "communist") mayor, which is what has happened in New York and Seattle. In New York, in particular, anyone with a net worth in the black is looking to the exits, as Mayor Zohran Mamdani seems determined to knock the Big Apple's economy clean out and then go through its pockets for loose change.
One business leader, determined to remain in New York, is appealing to fleeing New York billionaires to come back. Will he have any luck, though?

Why would they come back. Nothing will change. Mamdani is hell bent on turning NYC into a third world refugee camp. Hard to believe that 25 years ago New York was the epicentre of the worlds biggest terrorist attack and stood strong. Now it’s being conquered from within.

Interesting theory...how do they accomplish that? Most cities produce nothing any longer, nor grow any food. So, how long will they last? Especially when the people who live their no longer have food and free stuff?
Except: The communists already run all the big cities in the USA — so how does this change things?
I wonder how much longer it will be before they start offering tax incentives to keep them there or bring them back.

This “billionaire” guy Murstein is reminiscent of the Russian elites who supported the Bolsheviks. It didn’t work out well for them. Most were killed, stripped of their wealth or emigrated. Mamdani will play this guy for all he is worth. Probably appoint him chairman of some new government nonsensical entity. “The Glorious Progressive Committee of Fair Business Development”

Zohran Mamdani’s threats about confiscatory taxes are bad. But they are not the worst. Mayors may change every 4 years.
IMHO, a far bigger threat to anyone in NY (but especially the middle-class and rich) are the destruction and sacrifice of the NY State justice system to “get Trump” - the Stormy Daniels case, the “tax fraud case” (about the value of Mar-A-Lago) and the E.Jean Caroll alleged rape case
NY’s court system, its prosecutors and its judges all whored themselves to make splashy, headline-inducing cases against Trump, to serve woke political narratives.
when you have a politicized and biased “justice” system - then nothing is safe. And NY has already crossed that line.
