Federal agents flooded MacArthur Park on Wednesday as authorities announced a sweeping operation targeting what officials described as a notorious open-air drug market tied to fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking.
The enforcement action, dubbed “Operation Free MacArthur Park,” involved federal and local law enforcement agencies serving arrest and search warrants throughout the area surrounding the park.
In a statement posted Wednesday afternoon, First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said the operation targeted street-level drug dealers and suppliers accused of distributing “massive amounts” of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
“Federal agents have taken control of MacArthur Park to execute federal arrest and search warrants targeting the notorious open-air drug market there,” Essayli wrote.
According to federal authorities, 25 defendants have been charged in a federal criminal complaint alleging narcotics distribution and possession offenses involving fentanyl and methamphetamine. Officials said arrests began within the last 24 hours.
Sky5 was over an operation by federal agents at MacArthur Park on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. (KTLA) Essayli said the alleged “No. 1 drug trafficker” tied to the park, identified only as a resident of Calabasas, is now in federal custody and could face life in prison if convicted.
Other suspects arrested during the operation could face decades in federal prison, authorities said.

Local officials make too much money off the chaos to do anything. It's about time the feds moved in to put a stop to some of it. Wouldn't it be amazing to have the park clean enough for the people to enjoy once again?
Alas, once the feds move out another drug dealer will take the place of the one arrested and local authorities will once again turn a blind eye as things return to California normal.
“Democrat-controlled cities have allowed tax-payer funded city parks to be taken over by the criminals, druggies, and homeless. “
Bought my first house in Palo Alto, CA back in 1978. CA and Palo Alto were very woke even then. The downtown city parks were unusable by residents. Parks were infested with bums and druggies and there was no attempt to make them safe, clean civic spaces for tax-paying citizens. The idiotic Dems kowtowed to the trash even 50 years ago.
Palo Alto was a summer destination for the trash in San Francisco. When summers got too cold there, the trash would come to Palo Alto on the train and enjoy the warmer climate.
I’d always been conservative, but seeing that really convinced me that liberalism is a mental disorder.
The feds had plenty of men and the city cops weren’t really needed, but they were the icing on the cake, so to speak.

Damn meth heads - I’ll never have that recipe again!
Hey! I left a cake out in that flood!
Waylon Jennings also did a country/folk version in 1970:
It’s obvious to me this was done before the debates for the mayoral candidates for l.a. .To emphasize the corruption of Commie Karen Basura. ( for those who don’t know Spanish, Basura means trash or garbage), and pathetic leadership of woke politicians. The other candidate is an outspoken woke communist. Should be doing this every day....not to mention put Basura in jail for her corruption.
this is long overdue these narcos have been operating with impunity for years.
next up is San Francisco where Trump will be deporting the Honduran dealers.
personally I thank Elon because the videos of the streets of SF and LA on twitter are impossible to ignore.
And it took so long to bake it, and I’ll never have that recipe again. Oh noes!
I have always liked Maynard Furguson’s renditions.
Waylon Jennings and the Kimberlys is my favorite version.
We had the album when I was a kid.
I just listened to his version, Holy Cow, he doesn’t mess around does he? That was fantastic.
All the Sweet Cream Meth is flowing down.
