Barney Frank was one of the Democrat Reps who authored the Dodd-Frank bill, which was put in place after the 2008 bank crash.
The government arguably caused the failure and then turned around and put in a massive amount of regulations in response to the failure.
The Dodd-Frank bill put enormous strain on smaller banks, and eventually, some of the regulations were rolled back.
Ironically, Barney Frank sat on the board of Signature Bank, a New York-based commercial bank that collapsed in 2023 after depositors withdrew money in a panic amid a string of bank failures.
Politico reported:
Former Rep. Barney Frank, a liberal icon who was a key architect of the landmark Wall Street regulations Democrats enacted in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, has entered hospice care at his home in Maine. And as one of his last acts, he is preparing to release a book repudiating his party’s left flank.
A champion of liberal causes during his 32 years representing Massachusetts in the House, Frank says progressive Democrats have “embraced an agenda that goes beyond what’s politically acceptable.”
“Until we separate ourselves from that agenda, we don’t win,” he said in an interview Tuesday.
Frank, who served in the House from 1981 to 2013, said he feels “very good — no pain, no discomfort,” but has entered hospice care as he deals with congestive heart failure. He is remaining in his home in Ogunquit, Maine, where he moved with his husband after retiring from Congress.
“At 86, I’ve made it longer than I thought,” Frank said. “At some point, my heart’s just going to give out, and it’s reaching that stage. So I’m taking it easy at home and dealing with it by relaxing.”
Best news I’ve heard all day. Rather un-Christian of me but God will forgive me.

one of a kind...A tube of
My boy lollypop!
OH NO!!
Anyways, does anyone else put extra chocolate chips in the cookies than the recipe says, or is it just me?
Anyone ‘member when his boytoy was running a brothel in BF’s home and BF claimed he knew NOTHING about it?
A truly horrible person.
In late 2007, before the property / financial crisis - Barney Frank, who was then head of the House Financial Services Committee, became agitated in some public hearing, and screeched that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were absolutely fine and mortgage fraud didn’t exist.
I don’t remember which hedge fund manager it was, but in a later interview he said something like: “I watched Barney Frank, and realized the political disconnect and lies were so great, that we doubled our bet on credit default swaps the very next day.”
LOL. Perfect!
He’s in the wrong hospice. He needs to transfer to 626 Hospice in California. They have a 97% survival rate.

I wish him a peaceful, pain-free “rest of his life’. (After death, it may not be so pain-free. Nor peaceful.)
I wonder how his scandals are going to play out over the next couple of weeks?
He is a vile person.
Not a very good guy, but otherwise, no comment.
In his final days of “relaxing,” pray that he realizes the errors of his life and turns to Savior Jesus to deliver him from Hell.
Bawny Fwank?
That slob was Barney Frank.
I later learned that then Speaker Pelosi had hosted a small gathering at her Napa Valley home. Barney apparently was in attendance there. St. Helena is a solid 90 minutes or more from SFO, so he had gotten up pretty early.
Why am I not surprised? And Nancy called him a maestro for ramming through socialism.
My first thought whenever I hear Barney Frank is his live-in boy toy running a gay escort service out of Frank’s residence. He should have slumped out of Congress in shame but being a Dem has no shame.
