Late-night host says joke was 'not by any … a call to assassination'
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by ABC and its parent company Walt Disney, joining his wife Melania Trump in calling out the late-night talk show host for a monologue he delivered prior to a shooting that took place over the weekend near a gathering of journalists and politicians.
Last Thursday, in a segment that parodied the upcoming White House correspondents' dinner, Kimmel said that Melania Trump "had a glow like an expectant widow."
Trump and his wife were rushed out of the dinner on Saturday after a shooting in the lobby of the Washington Hilton where the event was taking place.
A suspect identified as Cole Allen charged through a checkpoint and fired at Secret Service agents, wounding one, before he was subdued and arrested.
Hours after the Trumps expressed their displeasure, Kimmel described the joke during his Monday night monologue as a light roast about the couple's age difference and "not, by any stretch of the definition, a call to assassination."
He said he was sorry that the president and everyone at the event went through that traumatic and scary experience.
"I agree that hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject," Kimmel said. "I do, and I think a great place to start to dial that back would be to have a conversation with your husband about it."
'Enough is enough'
Melania Trump had called Kimmel's remarks “corrosive."
It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behaviour at the expense of our community," she said in a post on X. "People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate."
"Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country," she said. "His monologue about my family isn’t comedy — his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America."...

I wish I could say I won’t watch him after this, but the truth is, he’s has the same monologue every night so I quit watching him years ago.
I consider what Kimmel and Jeffrys both spewed was “Fighting Words”, which is clearly not protected speech and is considered assault. Both of them and about a thousand other politicians, would be journalist, and no talent comedians are equally guilty and should be punished. I can’t imagine what they would say if Trump or any member of his team said anything near as hateful as they did. They would want to lynch him I am sure.

I’m sure old Walt wasn’t perfect, but he would be appalled at what Disney has become.
Another incident of blaming President Trump for his own assassination attempts. His wife writes his monologues; that’s why they’re so catty. They’re both evil, plus he’s whipped.
Recall a time I was in Hollywood in 2003 and they were outside handing out tickets for his show.

If Kimmel is not fired, it means ABC approves of inciting violence and death to President Trump.
