During the White House Correspondents' Dinner (WHCD) on April 25, 2026, a reported gunfire incident (described as shots fired in or near the lobby) caused panic, leading to an evacuation of attendees, including President Trump and other high-profile guests who were rushed out by security. In the chaos, viral videos emerged showing several guests—perhaps journalists, members of the press, or attendees—grabbing unopened bottles of wine and champagne from the tables as they left. One clip prominently features a woman picking up multiple bottles and walking out casually. Other people in the background are also seen carrying bottles.
Key details:
The bottles appeared to be from the tables (part of the paid event setup) rather than from a bar or secured area. No specific names of the individuals involved have been publicly identified in major reports. The woman in the most viral clip remains unknown, and coverage treats it as anonymous "guests" or "journalists" rather than naming anyone.
The incident quickly became known online as "Wine-Gate," sparking debate: critics (especially on the right/MAGA side) called it looting or stealing by the press amid a potential assassination attempt, while some defended it as harmless since the wine was already allocated to tables and likely would have been discarded or wasted during the sudden evacuation.
The people shown in the videos are not "professional thieves" but attendees (primarily press and their guests) reacting to the panic by taking the booze with them on the way out. No arrests or formal charges related to the wine have been reported—it's been treated more as an embarrassing viral moment than a criminal investigation. If new details emerge identifying anyone specifically, they haven't surfaced widely as of now. The story has mostly fueled memes and partisan commentary rather than deep investigative reporting on the bottle-grabbers themselves.

Full transparency must apply to “journalists”, too!
Wine Gate? New journalist scandal!
Excellent point. The wine thieves in that instance had no clear picture of what was happening.
These “journalists” do so much damage to the country by propagandizing, lying, not covering stories detrimental to their leftist causes, etc.
And yet, they feel entitled to steal, without knowing if Secret Service agents are bleeding out?
I’ll cut the journos some slack here. If the wine was on the table, it had already been charged to the event. It was paid for. Trying to make deal out of this just makes us look foolish.
It was the expensive stuff I’m sure. Lefties. They probably felt that since they paid to attend they should get their money’s worth.
The Left being true to their motto of never let a crisis go to waste.
Whose wine? What wine? Where the hell did I dine?
Reminds me of my visit to a state run dairy farm in Mongolia. These were large operations, huge buildings............
This place was stripped, and I mean nothing was left
Looking around and up, I imagined the call came that the Soviet Union was kaput. Top Managment grabbed the cash and good stuff, fancy cars, expensive easy stuff.
Middle mgt figured it out and grabbed the cows, machinery, etc.
Workers grabbed everything else.
As my eyes worked their way down, I saw the manure chain, it was still there with the manure. It happened that fast, no one ran the manure chain the last time.
I don’t know about the DC media but the Auto Journalist’s creed was “Eat free or die”. But then there is Sousa’s “Free Lunch Cadets” from 1877 so DC hasn’t changed.
The ones who knew there was no danger to them ahead of time , no trauma, no lingering fear, no shock, no wondering if the danger was over or not,,,
None of that correspondent or Dem pol crowd had an honest genuine reaction, IMHO .
This is what I call
A DOT.
Good movie, “Tetris”, that wasn’t so much about the game itself, but how things were in the final years of the Soviet Union, when everyone knew the end was coming.
That doesn’t change the fact that it was slobby, low-class behavior.
They acted better on my.
News organizations pay for the dinner tickets.
