Immediately following the excitement at the White House Correspondents Shoot-Out, the Director of the Secret Service, Sean Curran, stepped to the microphone and said:
Tonight, we saw exactly what our brave men and women do each and every day.
Yeah, you can say that again - and probably will, in late spring, early summer or so. Butler, Pennsylvania... West Palm Beach, Florida... Washington, DC... A famous line of Ian Fleming's seems more germane:
Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action.
Which begs the question: if it's enemy action, who precisely is the enemy?
The perp is the usual pliable boob out of central casting - in this case, a "Teacher of the Month" from California. But the interior of a DC hotel shouldn't be that hard a venue to secure. Even forty-five years ago, when Ronald Reagan was shot at the very same Hilton, the would-be assassin had to wait till the President was leaving the joint and take a potshot on the sidewalk.
I have thought that the world's most lavishly funded protection detail were total rubbish ever since I observed them at Bush campaign events in New Hampshire twenty-two sodding years ago, where the front door was the usual chaos but the back door was wide open and unsecured.

Maybe the DC police failed
Publicly Trump will praise the Secret Service. Privately it’s “Come To Jesus” time at the agency and the knives are out. There will be lots of Secret Service administrators updating their resumes soon. Or retiring “To spend more time with their family”.

The venue was separate from other areas of the hotel. The lobby had to be breached to get to the event. That didn’t happen. The SS and other LE did their job.
If this idiot perp had been a feint or diversion, one wonders what might have been accomplished.

Hopefully, President Trump will call on Pete Hegseth to provide replacements for the Secret Service which seems to be verging on the Keystone Cops in their “protection”. Unfortunately, the Secret Service seems to be mainly identifying as “government workers”. We all know what that means.
Here’s my observation from a career of working in large corporations. Once an incompetent takes over a department, the good people leave. The new leader replaces them with cronies or allies chosen specifically not to be a threat. Meaning, they’re incompetent. Any remaining good people at every level leave. When it’s the CEO, this happens to the whole company at once. There seems to be no recovery when this happens. I’d say dump the whole organization and start over, but labor laws severely restrict what can be done. The people you’d need to get rid of all have Stirling reviews, awards and letters of recommendation.
At a presidential event local police have no say. SS can delegate a task to them, but they cannot delegate there responsibility. It’sa Secret Service failure yet again.

In the long run it’s the RINOs/Uniparty working with the left in Congress, for decades now. Instead of holding fed agencies accountable (like the FBI, SS, CIA etc.) they are too busy spending on welfare for illegals and enriching themselves. JMO.

Well, they made a 3rd attempt on his life. They are saying what they are gonna do when they get back in power. If trumps gonna do something he’d better do it now. I just don’t think he has it in him to really go for the lefts head and lop it off.
