President Trump has called off sending a US delegation to Pakistan Saturday for peace talks with Iran – nixing a trip he said would be a waste of time.
Trump, who told a Post reporter in Islamabad to “come home” shortly after he made the announcement, said too much time was being “wasted” on traveling.
“I just cancelled the trip of my representatives going [to] Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with the Iranians,” the president posted on Truth Social Saturday afternoon. “Too much time wasted on traveling, too much work! Besides which, there is tremendous infighting and confusion within their ‘leadership.’
“Nobody knows who is in charge, including them. Also, we have all the cards, they have none! If they want to talk, all they have to do is call!!!”
The White House did not respond earlier Saturday to questions about when Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff were expected to depart for Islamabad.
The Iranian team had met with Pakistani mediators Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and had plans to travel on to Russia and Oman, in a trip Tehran had previously announced.
Trump’s sudden change of course came just hours after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News that Kushner and Witkoff “will be off to Pakistan again tomorrow morning to engage in talks, direct talks intermediated by the Pakistanis” with the Iranians.
The last round of talks, which Vice President JD Vance led, ended April 12 without a deal — despite 21 hours of marathon negotiations.

What happens until then? He is running out of time on the war powers act.
I wonder how much Iran is banking on the Democrats under cutting Trump, preventing and him from finishing the job.
They are infighting. Trump is supposed to wipe out the side that is blocking the deal we want.
Apparently the blockade will have devastating effects once they run out of storage room for their oil. He needs to stop giving them exceptions here and there and let the catastrophes happen.
Supposedly according to the Slimes(Yeah I know, I can wipe my a@@ with their reporting) we dont have enough ammo if China ever invades Taiwan, so maybe we had to regroup..we could have just asked Israel to continue on, supposedly there was only about 25 percent left in Iran to destroy before the war was over anyway
I really doubt our country is experiencing a shortage of ammunition and weaponry...
If that is the case, how come we stopped, by now the war could have been over and everything accomplished

I think it is obvious now that Iran is just stalling and “running out the clock”……waiting until May 1,,,,,knowing the democrats will come to their rescue in about a week.
I think he believes, as do a lot of legal scholars, that the war powers act is unconstitutional. And it's been largely ignored in all previous cases.
Wouldn’t surprise me to find out that the Iranian’s have Democrat party operatives advising them.
Probably a lot and more, like everything.
Supposition is about all we have though. I don’t actually think anyone knows how to end this mess.
My opinion is that Trump asked the DoW if they could pound Iran into defeat. They said yes. He may have thought that included some kind of strategic plan to end the kinetic activity and replace it with a truce, peace or something else. It didn’t. DoW is not a political entity, not supposed to be, that is for the politicians, the State Department and the President. They didn’t have a plan to finish this either and still don’t.
We have never actually won a war in the last 150 years without total capitulation of our enemy and unconditional surrender. We didn’t even figure out that there was no ending strategy, other than unconditional surrender, in Europe for nearly three years after the war when the Marshall Plan began. Europe was so utterly destroyed it could not recover without significant help. In a vast over simplification, utter destruction is where Iran probably needs to go. With that though we will certainly make enemies out of most of the citizenry we think might support us now.
Iran is hoping for the Dems to win and get rid of Trump , so they are just stalling
That idea should rest on very shaky ground. The climate is different now than it has been. At least I think it is but who really knows?

No, they do not. They still think that somehow they can win and are entitled to win, that the gravy train will just go on and on.
Unfortunately, somewhere between zero and 100% of the population are with them and it is more than likely a skewed bell curve in their favor. Some people keep forgetting that the students who brought this current regime to power 50 years ago are now around 70. They were supposedly for the way things became. I can’t say for the rest of the population. I figure Mossad and the CIA think they know or knew and that has not panned out very well.
I believe Trump knows the citizenry of Iran is not favorable to the IRGC and the Mullah regime and he doesn’t want to kill just everyone...He would love to see the people rise up against their current government...
