President Donald Trump on Monday said it was "highly unlikely" he would extend the ceasefire with Iran past Wednesday evening if Tehran did not reach agreement to end the conflict.
The ceasefire with Iran is set to expire this week and hostilities could resume after talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, failed to result in a permanent agreement. Trump told Bloomberg on Monday that it was "highly unlikely" he would seek to renew or extend the ceasefire.
The U.S. has sought a commitment from Iran to never possess a nuclear weapon, an end to its funding of proxy groups in the region, and a reduction of its ballistic missile arsenal. The Iranians, in turn, have demanded that the U.S. withdraw from the Middle East.
The current ceasefire began in early April and came ahead of a deadline that Trump imposed to reach an agreement or begin the bombing of civilian infrastructure in Iran. The last minute deal came at the behest of Pakistan, which brokered the ceasefire, though the parties disagreed on what they had agreed to and a ceasefire in Lebanon became a sticking point for later talks.

If he lets it survive it will soon be equipped with nuclear weapons supplied by Russia or China via North Korea because they have learned that a nuclear Iran is in their interests

Every minute they gain puts them closer to having a device...
If they believe they have one they will NOT test it on some remote spot.
One can only hope these talks do not result in such an outcome.
I think he said he wanted a cease fire. No nukes, i’m not sure he wants to rid us of the scourge. and really he can’t even if he wanted to do. It is more than a political issue.
I love our President, but Trump needs to quit talking about the great deals he is trying to make with these liars. Keep it short and sweet and non-committal. Let Iran run their mouths and then knock their teeh out.
“Destroying the Islamic State” with the available forces was never a possibility.
I really think part of Trump’s motivation was the knowledge that the next Democrat president will return to funding Iran’s terror regime and intent to acquire nukes. I think he is going to make it so no amount of bribes from the next administration will be able to prop up their desires to share in the ability to bring about world domination.
IDK, seems he keeps pushing the goal posts further.
“and really he can’t even if he wanted to do.”
You are saying the US military does not have the capacity to do the job.
If the shoe fits, and it fits Y'all. LOL!
I thought Iran had no more military assets. I thought all their navy was sunk, and the aircraft obliterated. If all this were true, we could all hop on a picnic boat and party on the Hormuz.

They have lost all of their major combatant Navy ships - 158, their entire fleet. They still have a lot of small speedboats, like commercial pleasure craft, from which they can fire heavy machine guns and shoulder-fired missiles, or drop mines.
Also, they have a variety of drones and land-based missiles that they can fly over the Strait.
The ships that they shot at recently had been guided by Iran (pretending to clear their passage) to sail close enough to the shore of Iran, that they were able to shoot at them from the shore.
The Administration has never once backed up the claim that we were in imminent danger. The ayatollahs have been sabre-rattling for decades, and just less than 10 months ago we smashed their nuke sites.
BUT....if the will is to absolutely eradicate the risk of an Iranian-built nuclear device, then that would require boots on the ground to seize Isfahan.
And even then, without regime change what’s to prevent the IRCG from acquiring warheads from North Korea?
Oil price currently $86 (9pm Pacific) and s&p futures are up.
Financial markets do not believe this war will restart.
Baloney, cut off the oil arm the resistance, and the Islamic State chokes to death.
Bomb these terrorist liars into the caveman period.
Then leave.
About time for a few more pagers to go off.

Targets included
<><>Iranian nuclear facilities,
<><>ballistic missile infrastructure,
<><>air defense systems,
<><>military production sites,
<><>and senior Iranian leadership.
Iranian media reported explosions in Tehran and other key strategic locations tied to Iranian defense and its intelligence networks.
“Trump needs to quit talking about the great deals he is trying to make with these liars.”
I don’t agree.
If he’s forced to pound Iran into the dirt (what he has aptly called ‘ending a civilization’) it is important that he lead up to it with numerous public warnings and second chances.
This is going to be an unprecedented act of aggression by a super power vs a far weaker adversary - he has to show that he had no choice, that he tried all the options - that it was a last resort.
This need for buy-in by the rest of the world is not just for politics - it’s a moral obligation that when we wipe out an entire nation - there is broad consensus that it was absolutely necessary.
Let’s just be glad if President Trump has the balls to do this at all when so many previous US Presidents and European leaders chose to kick the can down the road for so long.
Let’s not quibble over how many weeks President Trump takes to give the order,, or how many “last warnings” he gives them - when every other world leader did nothing for nearly fifty years!
