Just hours after a mass shooting that left eight children under the age of 15 dead in Louisiana, California Gov. Gavin Newsom is bashing the NRA “and their lackeys in Congress.”

“This is an unspeakable tragedy. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones suffering in Louisiana,” Newsom’s press office said on X. “Repeated horrors like this don’t happen anywhere else but this country.”

Calling the mass shooting a “total moral failure,” Newsom’s press office said the National Rifle Association “and their lackeys in Congress are complicit in this madness.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom purchased a $9.1 million mansion in 2024 located in the exclusive Kent Woodlands area of Kentfield in Marin County, which is known for its privacy and high-end residential estates. His previous residence in Fair Oaks, purchased in 2018, was also a private, gated 8-acre estate.

Shamar Elkins, the suspect accused of opening fire during a domestic incident in Shreveport, Louisiana, that left eight children dead and two women injured on Sunday, previously served in the Louisiana Army National Guard, officials said.

“Shamar D. Elkins served in the Louisiana Army National Guard from August 2013 to August 2020 as a Signal Support System Specialist (25U) and a Fire Support Specialist (13F),” an Army official told Fox News Digital. “He has no deployment. He left the Army as a private.”

Shreveport, Louisiana, police identified Shamar Elkins as the suspect in the shooting that killed eight children, including a 1-year-old, calling it a “heinous act.”

Shreveport Police Department Corporal Christopher Bordelon released the identity while speaking with reporters near the crime scene on Sunday evening. He also said seven of the eight children killed are believed to be Elkins’ children.

Police said the violence unfolded early Sunday during what investigators described as a domestic incident. Eight children, ranging in age from about 1 to 14, were found dead inside a home in the 300 block of West 79th Street.

Authorities said Elkins shot the mother of his children, who is expected to survive, while another female who was shot is suffering from life-threatening injuries. A teenage victim also sustained injuries that are considered non-life-threatening.

According to investigators, the suspect first shot an adult female on Harrison Street before traveling to the West 79th Street residence, where the killings occurred. After fleeing, he allegedly carjacked a man at gunpoint near Linwood Avenue and West 79th Street before officers located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit.

The chase continued into Bossier Parish, where officers confronted the suspect and opened fire, killing him at the scene. Authorities said no officers were injured. Louisiana State Police have taken over the investigation into the officer-involved shooting, while Shreveport police continue to investigate the killings, and are asking anyone with information, photos or video to come forward.

Making more laws for people to ignore when they aren’t enforced is the epitome of virtue signaling, and this is an area politicians excel at. It’s job security for them to do nothing productive.

Too bad those children didn't have armed guards protecting them... Newsom is a total turd spinning nonsense.

Preposterous. Newsom blaming the gun is like Bill Clinton smearing the GOP as being indirectly behind a rash of black church fires. Shameless. But we knew that.

Great Gav. Now do Chicago, NOLA, Memphis, LA, ... you know, the cities with excessive gun control. If he were any more obtuse he’d be flat.

“Repeated horrors like this happen no where else but our country!” said Gov. Newsom.

He says this, in spite of the fact that this week alone, there were two Mass Shootings in the country of Turkey.
One, the gunman was a 14 y/o student.
The other, two gunmen were aged 18 and 16 y/o.
NBC called them “Back To School Shootings”.

Repeated horrors like this don’t happen anywhere else but this country.

Simply false.

Look at John Lott’s data.
https://crimeresearch.org/2018/11/new-cprc-research-mass-public-shootings-are-much-higher-in-the-rest-of-the-world-and-increasing-much-more-quickly/

Consider Japanese “family suicides”.

Also, many countries simply do not keep good records.
Consider the legal code in Iraq:

“Honor killings” – which are committed across the MENA region generally by men when they think a female family member has violated social or religious norms — remain widespread in Iraq, in part due to lack of legislation to prevent and punish them. Further, penal codes all but encourage them by allowing mitigated sentencing for murder in certain cases, according to a 2020 report prepared for the UN Human Rights Committee.

Except for Iran, but over there it's the government doing the killing.
