Yet the progressive school board voted, and it should come as no surprise that they maintained Indigenous Peoples’ Day and eliminated Veterans Day.

But they are going to honor the following holidays:

Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday

Eid al-Fitr

Eid al-Adha

Juneteenth

Diwali

Juneteenth

Are they even in school on June 19th or is just a teacher staff day off. My school district will only be in school if they have too many snow days that are not converted into alternative learning days (kids take out prepared lessons and work on them at home).

My school got rid of Presidents Day and kept King Day. Then, held a “No Kings” rally.

"Roughly a quarter of students in Fairfax failed their 2025 Standards of Learning exams in math, reading and science, according to the Virginia Department of Education."

"Only five of the county’s 25 high schools have an average SAT score above the minimum points considered acceptable to get into a competitive college."

"Parents are rightfully frustrated"

So why don't they do something about it? They must like things the way they are.

By the way, how are students doing in Florida? North Carolina? Georgia? South Carolina? Texas?

One major reason that Islamists underachieve is a lack of IQ. We go to schools to improve our IQ.
So why do we allow ‘the stupid’ to use their lower standards to drag everyone else down? It there a STUPID ... oh wait, we have idiots on our school boards pushing DEI (who can’t even spell ‘die’).

I wonder how many ghost students are enrolled in this district...

How many ghost teachers are on the payroll...

Note to parents: Hint, hint...

It is even worse in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

The state’s largest school district just ANOTHER DEI school superintendent. She has never led a school district with over 2,000 kids, now she is in-charge of a district with over 100k students. AND she plans on promoting diversity and unity. She was the only candidate considered.

It used to be an honor to graduate from GCPSD. Now kids can barely read or write and forget ever learning math skills.

I attended 3 schools in Fairfax county in the 60s. Fifth grade at West Springfield Elementary, 6th grade at Rolling Valley Elementary (first year of operation) and the first half of 7th grade at Washington Irving Intermediate School. We moved back to San Diego the week between Christmas 1968 and New Year's Day in 1969. It was a long drive.

Whether or not school is still in on 19 June depends on the year. More often than not the school year ends before that, but our kids (in FCPS) have had years that ended on the 20th or 21st.

Maybe Florida would lend DeSantis to Georgia for a while.

I should add - this year the last day of normal school ends 17 June. 18 June is officially a teacher workday - then 19 June is a holiday.

So this year it really is only a holiday for the teachers, but if the school year had ended a week earlier (very possible the way the calendar moves around from year to year) that would have been a holiday for summer school students as well - as is July 4 every year.

The Dims here in Northern Virginia don’t vote in school board members to improve their kids’ education. They vote in the people that will demonstrate the Dim voters’ liberalism, so they can say, “Look at how progressive we are!”

...as though “liberalism”/”progressivism”/wokery were something to be proud of.
