Erica Schwartz, MD, JD, MPH, former Coast Guard officer, is President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Trump announced late this afternoon.
“Erica graduated from Brown University for College and Medical School, and served a distinguished career as a Doctor of Medicine in the United States Military, the Greatest and Most Powerful Force in the World, and then served as my Deputy Surgeon General during my First Term,” Trump wrote in a lengthy Truth Social post. Trump also appointed Sean Slovenski as the CDC deputy director and chief operating officer, Jennifer Shuford, MD, MPH, as the CDC deputy director and chief medical officer, and Sara Brenner, MD, MPH, as senior counselor for public health to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
“These Highly Respected Doctors of Medicine have the knowledge, experience, and TOP degrees to restore the GOLD STANDARD OF SCIENCE at the CDC,” Trump said.
Schwartz is set to inherit a chaotic and hollowed CDC, one that has seen public firings, the resurgence of measles across the nation, and legally disputed changes to routine vaccine recommendations. Polling also shows that Kennedy’s anti-vaccine “Make America Healthy Again” agenda isn’t sitting well with voters, and may be a liability in the midterm elections for Republicans.
The CDC is an agency within HHS.
Schwartz developed Coast Guard pandemic policy
Schwartz spent 24 years in the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and served as a rear admiral in the Coast Guard before serving as deputy surgeon general during Trump’s first term. According to CNN, Schwartz wrote Coast Guard policy on pandemic influenza and other viral disease outbreaks.
Schwartz will go before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee for a confirmation hearing at an unknown date. She is Trump’s third pick for the job. Currently Jay Bhattacharya, MD, PhD, the director of the National Institutes of Health is also acting as head of the CDC, after Susan Monarez, PhD, was ousted last summer less than a month into her stint as director.
Monarez said she fell out of favor with Kennedy after she refused to kowtow to some of his anti-vaccine policy and changes.
“I could not pre-approve recommendations without reviewing the evidence, and I had no basis to fire scientific experts,” Monarez told lawmakers last September. “Even under pressure, I could not replace evidence with ideology or compromise my integrity.”
Today Kennedy celebrated Trump’s pick. “Thank you, President Trump, for nominating Dr. Erica Schwartz to serve as CDC Director,” he wrote on X. “I look forward to working together to restore trust, accountability, and scientific integrity at the CDC.”

Her vaccine stance should be disqualifying, but Trump is making all kinds of odd moves lately.
Trump is under his continued delusion that Operation Warp Speed & the COVID bio-weapon shots are the best thing since sliced bread. This nominee will only further support that delusion rather than enlighten him as to the truth.

IMO, initially Bondi was the least impressive, in the end Noem, expecially considering her husband, Noem was the most embarrassing. And Noem, flaunting herself in that 220 million dollar commercial as well as having a boy friend. Good effing riddance to both of those embarrassments to the Trump admin.
I hope the Trump people did an extensive back ground check on this lady.

I saw a post on X where Kati Couric was screeching as to what and why were so many people under 50 getting all these horrific stage 4 cancers.
I was thinking “where the hell have you been, Katie”. Cancer was built into these bioweapon jabs and the young people went big on getting those jabs because they didn’t want die.
Of course none of them were aware of the possible side effects because none were ever given. The pamphlets came blank within the jab pack.
I am irritated with this right now because I have a friend whose 47 year old daughter is slowly dying of heart and other ailments since getting all those jabs. She has a child who developed a Tourettes type issue and a husband who was hospitalized a couple years ago and almost died from heart issues and blood clots. The daughter was big on those jabs and a picture of health prior to the jabs.
“Shiels and colleagues analyzed incidence and mortality trends for 33 types of cancer over about a 10-year period, from 2010 to 2019. Data were divided into six age groups. Three groups were considered early-onset: ages 15-29 years, 20-39 years, and 40-49 years. Three other groups were considered older-onset: ages 50-59 years, 60-69 years, and 70-79 years. Study results appeared on May 8, 2025, in the journal Cancer Discovery.
“The researchers found that the incidence of 14 of the 33 cancer types climbed in at least one of the younger age groups.”
The rates were going up before [2010-2019] the first jab was given [2020].
To me, this is a huge red flag. Anybody in the top chain of command (which she would have been) who recommended and enforced this deadly program in the military deserves calumny, not a promotion to be in charge of the national medical system.
“To understand the magnitude of the increases in terms of absolute numbers, the researchers estimated how many additional people were diagnosed with early-onset cancers in 2019 compared with expected diagnoses based on rates in 2010. The largest absolute increases were seen for female breast cancer, with about 4,800 additional cases in 2019, followed by colorectal (2,100), kidney (1,800), uterine (1,200), and pancreatic cancers (500). Female breast, colorectal, kidney, and uterine cancers contributed to more than 80% of the additional early onset cancers in 2019.
“The researchers speculated that risk factors such as increasing obesity may have contributed to some of the increases in early-onset cancer incidence in recent years. Changes in cancer screening guidelines, advances in imaging technologies, and increased surveillance of high-risk individuals may also have led to earlier cancer diagnoses, potentially contributing to rising rates among younger age groups.”
