Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's Liberal Party has secured a slim majority in the House of Commons, solidifying its hold on power after being projected by Canadian media to win all three seats up for grabs during by-elections on Monday.
The election gains come a year after Carney took office, and follow five defections by opposition members of parliament to the Liberals.
Liberals would now hold 174 of the 343 seats in the House, giving Carney more latitude with his political agenda.
His party will have the ability to pass legislation without relying on support from opposition benches and he could stave off a federal election until 2029.

I guess that now Sideshow Carney has consolidated control, the next step is to bring Alberta back-to-heel, which can be translated to the current strategy of using the First Nations to try and squash the Alberta Referendum. Interesting times...
Kanada is lost
Keep turning left, Canada...
You’ll be gone before you know it!
This is going to speed up the separation process of the provinces. 51,52,53 & 54 Sates ,here they come.
Canadians are f’n stupid
Canada is finished.
It is on the last legs of socialism and it is turning authoritarian.
Or at least independent countries...saw some interviews from Alberta: they want out of Canada but do not want to be a US state.
Either works for me, however...
Cana is no longer “Canadian”. It has become a province of China. Just look at the inhabitants of Toronto and Vancouver. It looks like a third world shit hole.
And then you have the maritime provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, NewFoundland and Labrador. They are ALL filled with 99% welfare parasites which of course love big government and will always vote themselves the treasury.
How Trump's Actions Helped the Liberals
Galvanized Canadian Nationalism: Trump's suggestions that Canada could become the "51st U.S. state" and his imposition of 25% tariffs on Canadian exports triggered deep-seated nationalistic sentiment.
Shifted the Campaign Focus: The central election question shifted from domestic issues like the cost of living to "who can face Donald Trump." This favored the Liberals as the traditional "party of government".
Enabled a "Wartime Leader" Persona: Mark Carney, who succeeded Justin Trudeau as Liberal leader, successfully framed himself as a "wartime leader" capable of defending Canadian sovereignty against an existential threat from Washington.
Undermined the Conservatives: The Conservative Party, led by Pierre Poilievre, had a 20-point lead in December 2024. However, Trump's hostility made the Conservative "Canada First" pivot appear less effective compared to the Liberals' direct resistance, ultimately leading to Poilievre losing his own seat.
Canadastan, falling deeper into the communist abyss.
Looks like China will get Canadian before we do.
With all the liberals marxist communists and socialists here we’re next?.
The canucks become even more liberal, what could go wrong?
Kandistan
No, no stan
Canada is a Europe wannabe.
Trump is turning out to be a mixed blessing.
It seems if Alberta is successful they likely will be joined by Saskatchewan, in which case Quebec’s smoldering sovereignty claims may be re-ignited as well.
Carney may discover that bending the knee to China while turning away from the US was not a good idea, crippling further an already weak economy, exacerbating an exploitive mercantilist central government posture toward the western provinces.
Carney became Prime Minister of Canada because of Trump’s ill timed rhetoric of Canada becoming the 51’s state”
Well than too many Canadians are weak minded fools.
“If”
The reality is that Alberta’s secession movement is massively underwater in the polls.
