Exclusive: Macron seeks to draw Trump to G7 with post-summit invite to Versailles

French President Emmanuel Macron has invited U.S. President Donald Trump to a sumptuous dinner at the ornate Palace of Versailles the ‌day after a G7 summit in mid-June, although it remains unclear if Trump will ‌attend either event, sources said.

France is the host of this year's G7, with a leaders' summit in the lakeside resort of Evian-les-Bains at the foot of the French Alps scheduled for June 15-17 - dates that Macron has already moved to accommodate a mixed martial arts event Trump is hosting at the White House on his 80th birthday on June 14.

Trump's relationship with many G7 members has grown increasingly strained over ‌his war with Iran among other issues, notably in openly scathing comments regarding British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's early March offer of military support. He has also repeatedly lambasted NATO, of which all G7 members except Japan are part of, over its response to the conflict.

The sources said it was not yet clear if Trump would be at Evian-les-Bains let alone Versailles, to which they said none of the other G7 leaders have been invited.

A Trump no-show would be a major ‌embarrassment for Macron and would cast a long shadow over the G7 at a time the U.S. administration is openly sceptical over the value of such multilateral get-togethers.

Trump's relationship with many G7 members has grown increasingly strained ...

Because there are few real men in Europe these days. There are, in China, Russia and North Korea, all of whom get along great with President Trump. Sigh, too bad.

We moved the London Bridge to America, maybe Trump can buy Versailles and move it to Florida.

29 U.S. Presidents died before their 80th birthday (I'm counting Cleveland only once).

I've been to Versailles and I didn't need an invitation from Macron. In fact at the time I had never heard of him for the very good reason that he hadn't been born yet.

It’ll be a chance for Trump to check out Macron’s hot wife.

Macron is no longer in TRumps league.

MAcron is now only a minor player on the WOrld stage, having mised his opportunity for greatness within the Abraham Accords expansion.

The axis of Western power just shifted from Western Europe to the Persian Gulf.

Emmanuel Macron has always treated the President with nothing but pure class. The most moving gesture took place early last year: when he gave then just president-elect Trump an entrance of honor and seat at the re-opening of Notre Dame Cathedral.

France Farted In Trump’s General Direction for pretty much 2 solid years now.

I hope Trump sends Rubio. Someone needs to go. Not Pres and Not VP.

Rubio should show with an invoice for each of the EuroWeenies for the cost of Iran kinetic.

And with info about all the US base closures in Europe especially extracting any remaining US investment in Spain, France and UK.

Rubio can Demand Diego Garcia be granted to USA as Sovereign Territory. Ditto Greenland.
