Trump And Rubio To Meet With NATO Chief Amid Betrayal by European Allies in Operation Epic Fury

President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are set to meet with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte at the White House Wednesday, following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire with Iran.

The Trump administration has expressed strong frustration with the alliance for refusing to support U.S. objectives, including securing the Strait of Hormuz, on which many European nations depend. Alleged “allies” offered little more than calls to resume negotiations, questioned President Trump’s plan, and in some cases even closed their airspace to U.S. military aircraft, moves widely viewed as a betrayal by European partners.

This comes after Secretary of State Marco Rubio said recently that the United States' "relationship" with NATO will have to be reexamined.

"After this conflict is concluded, we are going to have to reexamine that relationship," Rubio said. "We're going to have to reexamine the value of NATO in that alliance for our country."

It’s time for us to stop paying the bills for Europe’s defense. Let them pay their own way and shoulder their own responsibilities.

When Russia and/or China come calling, let us know. We’ll consider the circumstances and see what is in our best interests at that time.

Not a “betrayal”. It wasn’t a NATO mission, and we paired with a non-NATO country and started a war with a sneak attack and a wave of assassinations. We did not include the NATO countries in on the plan.

We just sprung it on them and demanded they join in.

They have large restive moslem populations and aren’t going to jump into an Israeli war.

Personally, NATO is very little use to us and should have gone out of business decades ago. It’s just a big welfare jobs program for bureaucrats and contractors. But just pull the plug, no fake excuse or outrage needed.

You must wonder why President Trump did not reveal his plans to Starmer, Macron, and Merz, the leaders of Britain, France, and Germany, respectively. Is it possible that there was fear that any of them would have leaked the information to Iran, China, or Russia?

Europe has always been a mess. I’m saddened to see they’ve become a cowardly mess.

Sorry DessertRINO, the NATO alliance isn’t worth a bucket of warm spit. The sooner we get out of it and form individual alliances with countries like Poland, Hungary, etc. the better.

“When Russia and/or China come calling, let us know.”

They aren’t coming. That’s a fable for the arms trade...

Europe needs no militaries beyond a small constabulary force, a fisheries rescue and patrol oriented coast guard etc.
They don’t need missiles, fighters, tanks, artillery and warships.

Nobody is coming for them. It’s just a habit they can’t break to have the toys...

Long overdue. It should have ended slightly after the Cold War as the Warsaw Pact did.

No Balkan war, no expansion, no Ukraine war ...

Trump as Commander in Chief can order the withdrawal of American military personel within NATO and assign them wherever he sees fit.

"Europe needs no militaries beyond a small constabulary force"

Well, they are also going to need a pretty large mutawa to enforce Sharia law on the dhimmis.

I hope Trump is going to hang the weasel up by his thumbs.

The rivers of American blood shed for Europe and they’re not there for us.

And worse yet we’re defending their oil.

It is long past time for the US to say, “Adios” to NATO. We bailed the Europeans out of two world wars and protected them from the USSR for many years. What did we get in return? Answer: a failure for most countries to pay their fair share of NATO dues, a continual reliance on the US to bail them out of every risky situation, and now, a near total failure to support the US in Iran, a country that has continued to threaten European safety and trade for over 50 years. I could go on but why bother. No more European freeloading nations!!!

You have to ask the question?

Those weasels are all in it for themselves and their Muslim populations.

Betrayal?

Oh, that's rich.

Das Propagandaministerium must have been up all night working on a term to describe the behavior of countries who haven't felt inclined to get us out of a mess of our own making.

Pretense is always important in politics. Just like the costumes and makeup in kabuki theater.

>>We just sprung it on them and demanded they join in.

This was not an isolated incident. France refused us overflight in 1988 when we bombed Libya after they attacked and murdered Americans in West Berlin. So even when we are attacked, which very much falls within the NATO obligations, Europe refuses to help and actively hinders our defense. Europe has ALWAYS hated us, but has ALWAYS just expected us to bleed for them.
