FORT MYERS, Fla. —

Co-workers and family of the woman killed in a brutal attack outside of a Fort Myers gas station said they are mourning the loss of the loving mother.

Those who knew the victim said her name was Yasmin, a mother to two teenage daughters who hails from Bangladesh.

A memorial is now growing outside the gas station where she was killed as police continue to put the pieces together with the suspect in jail.

"Everybody, like, right now is sad. You know, you not only me, not only my Bangladeshi community," said M.D. Islam, a member of the local Bangladeshi community in Fort Myers. "Also, all of us people, also around the world. They are very sad to see this news."

A fundraiser set up for the family shows photos of the mother of two, who co-workers and family tell us was always kind to everyone she met. Islam said the mother was just outside moments before the brutal attack.

Deades ago, we lived in Naples, Florida, just down the coast from Fort Meyers. I was still enough of a city girl (San. Fran) to never wear golf dresses to cocktail parties. Found a terrific store in Ft. Meyers with dresses from Rosa Ronstadt, a German designer who had an extraordinary fashion and color sense. Still wear two of those dresses to fancy occasions.

That was then. Now even Fort Meyers has gone to the BowWows? Where is DeSantis? Doesn’t his family like staying alive?

I lived 6 months in North Fort Myers which was a decent area or it least it was some 25 years ago. Apparently this happened on MLK boulevard so you can probably surmise what sort of neighborhood it was. The government sometimes dumps these refugee types to live in bad neighborhoods without warning them of the danger because that wouldn’t be pc.

Nothing good ever happens on city streets named after MLK.

Thanks for info re Ft Myers. I guess the rntire world has gone downhill. Glad I had such happy times in a world that was relaively safe.

Must bone up on Hindu beliefs. I think we’re entering the age of Kali, goddess of destruction and other nasty things. Interesting that Christianity’s major female figure is Mary, mother of Jesus, the very soul of love and kindness.
