We had 550,000 troops and over 4,000 combat aircraft based right in South Vietnam in 1968. Ten minutes from takeoff to mission. 2 million Vietnamese and 58,000 Americans died. AND WE LOST THE WAR.
So anybody who even suggests that invading Iran can work, is retarded. Especially when all of our potential force assembly locations are in proven missile and drone range. (This ain't Desert Storm. Examples: The US Navy has completely fled the region. Our critical aircraft are destroyed on the ground from Kuwait to Saudi Arabia.)
Iran is 10X bigger than South Vietnam, with 6X its 1970 population. Its bigger than 6 Colorados, and more mountainous. If bombing the crap out of Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, then the global economy goes into a great depression, and poor nations will starve.
And the entire world will know who caused this global "catastrophe of choice."
Already France, Japan, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and other countries have cut deals with Iran to transit the SoH. Goodbye petrodollar, goodbye USD = the world reserve currency.
"Mission Accomplished," if you wanted to destroy America's global superpower status. Now China and Russia just laugh at our force projection capability. Hell, the mighty US Navy was forced to run 1,000 KM away from 2nd-Tier Iran. Good luck defending Taiwan, Japan or South Korea. Now, they will all align with China. They'll have to.
This was the greatest military and economic blunder in modern world history. Shooting ourself in both feet with a 12 gauge.

This is the stupidest thing I have heard in a long time. Based on how well their equipment worked in the Ukraine, Venezuela and now in Iran they would be brain dead to think that China’s equipment will protect them in any way.

I was diagnosed with COVID three times. To this day, I can’t really tell you what Covid feels like because it was no different than sinus infections I used to get regularly up till a few years ago.

And the point about the relative geographic sizes of Vietnam and Iran is childish.
That’s not to say we should or could easily invade Iran.
He needs to STFU and write another survival book.
In Vietnam the generals were fighting WWII again. It was bad strategy and combined with political meddling, it didn’t work. But I think that in this war, President Trump is going to pull it off.
