Two U.S. Air Force EA-37B Compass Call electronic warfare aircraft have arrived at RAF Mildenhall, UK, on Mar. 31, 2026. The aircraft departed on Mar. 30 from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, and arrived in the UK after a fuel stop at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.
Our friend and contributor Glenn Lockett was able to snap some images of the two aircraft upon their arrival at RAF Mildenhall.
The EA-37s, flying with the callsigns AXIS41 and AXIS 43, were spotted on flight tracking websites upon departure and are expected to later fly to Turkey. In fact, a Boeing 747-400 belonging to Kalitta Air, which usually flies transport missions on behalf of the U.S. Transportation Command, has landed at Davis-Monthan and is said to be scheduled to fly to Istanbul, according to flight trackers.

Geez, security concerns?!
Is this a new airframe or is it based on an existing one?
Can they call in strikes on Spain’s commies-in-gov’t?
It’s a modified Gulfstream G-550.
Just guessing, but these could be replacements for the AWACS aircraft that were hit by an Iranian drone strike.
It’s The Discombobulator
Completely different capabilities.
Two different functions AWACS are flying command centers with a massive electronics and radar array. Electronic Warfare aircraft can jam radar systems and fire control systems, it is an electronic counter measures aircraft. Nice to have around especially when you have aircraft like the A-10 doing strike packages. It can disable a radar system. Also may be able to blackout radars tracking ships in the Straight of Hormuz, but that is just a guess.
Supposedly there are 50K ground forces in teh refion. Are these to support some kind of ground incursion into Iran, perhaps to get the enriched Uranium to completely eliminated the nuclear threat from Iran?
Never seen that aircraft before now.
I would guess it’s mission is geo sourcing and marking radio comms for targeting?
Weird nomenclature: the T-37 Tweet is a UPT plane and the OA-37 “Dragonfly” (though the pilots butch it up to the “Dragon”) is the “combat” version of the Tweet (only stationed at Howard AB, Panama back in the day). Calling this a -37 doesn’t make a lot of sense, it’s not the same airframe at all.

Compass Call used to use specialized EC-130Hs and have been switching the mission over to the Gulfstream. Regardless of the aircraft used, it is a heavily modified system designed to disrupt enemy command and control communications, perform offensive counterinformation operations, and carry out other kinds of electronic attacks.
Back in my days in the Air Force (70s-90s) the equipment was pretty big, some still used scopes and tubes.
The modernization and miniaturization of electronic components means not only can these smaller jets do the mission, but they pack far more gear.
My days of yore Compass Call:
And it can cruise above 50,000 feet. So its radars have a very long reach.
No USN E 2 Hawkeyes are filling that gap.
Technology marches on.

Intercepted cockpit voices heard by Iranian intelligence:
“Joey, have you ever been to a Turkish prison? Do you like those magazines of bodybuilders flexing their muscles?”
“No, sir.”
