The FBI arrested a married couple Thursday accused of fraudulently billing Medicare for $7.45 million while running a hospice with a survival rate reported to be more than 97% after five years. They were the first in a series of arrests planned Thursday, federal officials told CBS News.
A high survival rate at a hospice provider is one of a series of red flags identified by state auditors for fraud because most people enter hospice care in the final stages of a terminal illness. In past cases of fraud, operators were found to be using false or stolen identities to collect federal reimbursements for palliative care.
The targets of the early-morning operation were Gladwin and Amelou Gill, a doctor and psychologist who co-own 626 Hospice, which does business as St. Francis Palliative Care, according to the FBI.

Easy fix to this problem. Be careful of what you ask for.
It a miracle.

Perhaps:
You don’t paid unless the patient has:
Stage IV cancer, COPD with oxygen below 90(?), ESRD with?, Cirrhosis with ?...
You don’t paid unless the patient dies within six months of admission and a valid death certificate from your jurisdiction is provided.
Earnest Angley would be envious of a 97 percent HEALing rate
Is anything at all being done about these travesties?

Vance-led Fraud Task Force has just SUSPENDED 221 hospice providers in Los Angeles County due to taxpayer THEFT.
“Vance touts LA arrests in fraud crackdown”
https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/vance-touts-la-arrests-fraud-crackdown
It’s all meaningless as long as the world’s largest organized crime entity and primary beneficiary of the corruption- the Democratic Party- is not suppressed.
Insert "Prosecuted and jailed" for "suspended" and I'll take notice.
Any arrests?
Everybody’s doing it...
The owner of a Klamath Falls clinical laboratory has been charged with healthcare fraud after federal investigators say the company submitted tens of millions of dollars in fraudulent Medicare Advantage claims for laboratory testing services that were never performed.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon, 34-year-old Jahangeer Ali, a Pakistani national residing in Southern California, faces a criminal complaint tied to an alleged scheme involving Oregon Clinical Laboratory in Klamath Falls.
Court documents state that between June 2025 and January 2026, the laboratory submitted more than $46 million in claims to Medicare Advantage plans. Investigators allege that no providers ordered the testing services listed in the claims, and none of the beneficiaries actually received the tests.
As a result of the alleged fraud, Medicare Advantage plans reportedly paid out more than $28 million.
Authorities say Ali was arrested on February 26, 2026, at Los Angeles International Airport as he prepared to board a flight to Turkey, with an ultimate destination of Pakistan. He made his first court appearance the following day in the Central District of California. After a detention hearing on March 4, he was ordered held pending further proceedings.
A separate detention hearing in the District of Oregon also resulted in Ali being ordered to remain in custody while the case moves forward.
The case is being investigated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew T. Ho is prosecuting the case.
Officials emphasized that a criminal complaint is only an allegation. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

There is a statistic for, nationally, the survival duration of patients on hospice. There is not much standard deviation on that average. Most die at approximately that duration.
There is one exception and it has been studied and found to be legitimate. That is hospice administered by the VA. They do a better job for their patients. And yes, that’s a period
Few arrests that I’ve heard of so far.
Of course, judges will just let them go with a slap on the wrist.
This week, a Minnesota judge gave one of the “feeding our future” fraudsters just 6 months in prison. Another one she gave just a year.
97% survival rate. Which ones don’t make it? Could have learing problems.
