Iran’s leadership is facing an escalating internal power struggle as the country’s economy edges toward collapse, with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) increasingly consolidating control, according to an analysis by Iran International.
The report describes what it calls the most significant political upheaval in Iran since the 1979 revolution, driven by a convergence of war, economic crisis, and a growing leadership vacuum. Together, these pressures are pushing the system away from its traditional balance between civilian government and unelected power centers toward what the analysis characterizes as a more overtly military-dominated structure.
At the center of the tensions is a widening rift between President Masoud Pezeshkian and senior IRGC leadership, including figures such as Ahmad Vahidi. According to the report, Pezeshkian has warned that without a ceasefire, Iran’s economy could “completely collapse within weeks,” underscoring the severity of the financial strain the country faces.
However, the analysis suggests that rather than seeking to stabilize the economy, IRGC leaders have resisted restoring authority to civilian institutions and have instead tightened their hold over key decision-making positions.

Patato, Patatoh, lets bomb the whole darn country.
If they’re all in one place, why is that building still standing?
Most Iranian civil servants and military personnel are likely saying... Where’s my paycheque? And as everybody always says... Its all about the money.
Seems like Trump’s claim of regime change was a bit premature.
“If they’re all in one place, why is that building still standing?”
Well, the photo is from January.
Wormtongue has had his ear……

Note Wormtongue has no interest in MAGA or America, his allegiance lies elsewhere.
You’d be the wormtongue.

Trump is evidently making a distinction between the mullahs/Revolutionary Guards and the civil administrators. The former get vaporized. The latter are pretty much left alone.
I guess that’s so there’s some central authority in Iran for us to bargain with.
Guy on the far left is Don Trump Jr! Lol
What’s he doing there? lol
JPost nonsense. There never was a balance, it has always been the IRGC in total control. The regime made a pretense of civilian power, while the Ayatollah was in charge of all, and the IRGC his sword.
Together, these pressures are pushing the system away from its traditional balance between civilian government and unelected power centers toward what the analysis characterizes as a more overtly military-dominated structure.

Balanced????
No way in hell. The goat-humping nut jobs were running the place.
Jerusalem Post should know better.
These IRGC people and their goons are desperate. They know that unless the regime survives, they, their families, their syncophants and their goons will be killed. Many will die fighting and will attemt to kill as many Americans as possible. Also as abhorent as they are, they will be viewed by many as heroic martyrs fighting to defend their homeland. That makes an uprising by those “freedom loving Iranians “ who are supposedly sheltering in place, a risky prospect to rise up against them while they are “defending” Iran against Israel and America. Those “freedom loving Iranians” don’t want to be viewed as traitors or get themselves killed.
If you listened to Trump’s speech last night, you might have noticed that he said there has already been regime change because all of the leaders at the start of the war are now dead.
Photo of yourself?
A target that not yet risen to the top of the to do list? I was wondering the same thing.
Looks like a lot less terrorists than two months ago.
It’s a dated photo.
The only guy left in the upper ranks of the IRGC is Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, who was appointed on March 1, 2026.
Multiple unsourced reports are saying Vahidi essentially has the Supreme Leader (JR — the gay guy) captive.
If Vahidi goes, there’s very few on the bench to replace him.
The President has been studiously left alone, as has all the command of the Artesh (regular Army). I kind of expected him to be the one to sign a surrender, but he sent a stupid letter to America last night that might as well have been his death warrant.
Well, I appreciate your logic, but in May of 45... the Allies still needed to have Admiral Donitz surrender....
