Europe Needs to Hear This Harsh Truth
PJ Media ^ | 1 Apr 2026 | Stephen Green

Shipping and military expert John Konrad spent all day in D.C. on Tuesday talking to his military sources and concluded that "the Navy appears to be in no rush to reopen the strait," even while Iran dictates whose oil tankers are allowed to pass.

"What is this administration trying to leverage?" Konrad wondered, and that nobody he talked to was willing to discuss the fate of Hormuz "until European politicians and media stop calling Americans war criminals and monsters."

While Konrad admitted he has "no idea" when Hormuz will reopen, "but if the price is a modicum of cooperation and respect for everything America has done for decades to keep Europe safe, the strait could stay closed for months, or turned into a toll booth for years, because the majority of Americans…. and the vast majority of Trump administration officials I’ve talked with… seem fed up with their arrogance."

The self-styled sophisticates in Brussels and Europe's capitals remain remarkably provincial in their outlook, and that's why today we will speak some harsh truths to our friends in Europe — not because the truth is harsh, but because they believe that we naïve Americans don't recognize it.

So here comes the truth bomb, laser-guided right into the atrium of the EU's Berlaymont building.

The harsh truth is that Hormuz is their priority, not ours, and yet they refuse to make any serious contribution to the war effort.

I don’t think it will happen, but I would absolutely love it if President Trump announced to a national audience tonight that we’re formally leaving NATO. Like the president, I too have had it with those spoiled rotten lazy ingrates.

I suggest they build more Chinese Windmills...they are going to need them. I seriously hope that Trump announces that if the Europeans want oil and gas, they can acquire it themselves. We can sell them some, but there will be a security premium attached for it.

Maybe what Trump will announce is that the change of the Government in Iran is up to the Iranian Resistance, which the US will support with air support, weapons, technology, and any other way that it can.

From their perspective I think they’d say it used to be open, you start a war and it’s closed and now you want us to open it again.

“Europe believes that their needs must be our priority, and that, furthermore, we’re required to do their job for them.”

Eff that. I fully support Trump pulling out of NATO when the Iran operation is over.

The Strait of Hormuz is such a high priority for these countries that they would have told anyone willing to listen not to start a stupid war in the Persian Gulf in the first place.

Why would anyone find this baffling?

Unreasonable to say US started a war when Iran has been waging war for 47 years.

So they're just bystanders to events, willing to do business with the mullahs and put up with their constant murdering and sponsorship of terrorism. Even unto the mullahs getting nukes. What to do when the mullahs threaten Rome? Paris? London? Madrid? Of course they will also be more than happy to go along with a defanged Iran and reap the benefits fo cheap oil and energy once the situation is resolved to the status quo ante or a new regime in Iran.

Why not exit United Nations while we’re at it?

If Europe cared they would announce an international alliance to build massive pipelines to transport oil to the Red Sea. BUT... My guess is Europe’s globalist goons are thrilled oil won’t make it to Europe. They have trillions to be had from their green energy scams. If the average European has to sit in a cold house all winter long, that is of no concern. The priority electricity will go to the muslim invaders and the petroleum fuels will go to the bureaucrats and leadership. And most important in the short term, EVERYTHING Trump does must be opposed and sabotaged. They don’t care if the world is vaporized with a million nuclear bombs rained down from Iran, Trump must not be allowed success.

That would be lovely. Send them packing to Brussels and do something useful with that prime real estate.

Enjoying a little giggle over the “Sucks to be EW” jab. I may need to appropriate it.
