Insanity is just an easy way to get people released back into society. You send them to the bug house for a few years, declare them “cured” and cut them loose.
If this happened to my kin I would find justice one way or another
That’s the same explanation for the people Seattleites vote into office.
I have noted this 4 or 5 times in the past here. Full disclosure, I am disdainful of the system of justice as it stands.
“The insanity defense is rarely used and even more rarely successful in modern criminal cases. It is raised in only about 1% of all felony cases, often failing because of the high burden of proof and strict legal standards for proving mental illness. Despite public perception, it is considered the least used defense, succeeding in roughly 25-30 cases per year nationwide.”

Cordell Maurice Goosby.
Yep, no surprises here.
Then just declare you were insane and be found not guilty.

How many weeks until he's back on the street …
Being insane is very fluid.
And that is 25-30 times too many.
I am not saying that there are not people out there that are off their nut and kill. I am saying that Guilty but Insane should be the only option in that case. They are no longer safe to be out in society.
Releasing them after a couple of weeks in the kookie jar with a bottle of pills to take every six hours does not cut it.
around here they dont get to trial. the determine you incompent to assist your defense and cut the scum loose.
There are some who just aren’t and won’t ever be qualified to live in a civilized society. I think he earned his spot in that group.
effing psychiatrists - they’ve convinced people they can fix this $hit.
Or better yet, stay out of Seattle (or any other place run by Democrats).
““The insanity defense is rarely used and even more rarely successful in modern criminal cases.”
According to the article, he has had previous issues concerning sanity but it stated that it was caused because of use of hard drugs. They did not say why the individual approached the car armed. It also did not state whether the perp saw what he thought was a gun prior to approaching the car which was the only thing in the article concerning his act.
There has to be more than this and it was never said. According to FOX 13:
“The then 30-year-old approached the couple at random as they were at a stop in traffic on 4th Street in Belltown and reportedly emptied a 9mm handgun into the couple’s Tesla as they were commuting to work.”
If he shot them because he didn’t like Asian people, that would be murder because it erases the random aspect. This crime is not answered with an insanity determination. Even an insanity act has a reason that had to come out in court to determine insanity. This one never stated any.

My dad who was a copper just before he passed told me that I was the oldest man and if any one hurt any of the women in the home, including my grandmother, to not expect the cops or courts get justice. He added you are smart enough to not get caught. Fortunately I was not called upon to close that deal.
“Insane at the time of the crime” but not before and not after?
“history of hard drug use” is a decision he made long before this all happened!
Bunch of BS!
Needle in his arm!!!
