Trump proven right on Iran's long-range missile capability as regime targets US-UK base, experts say

The Islamic Republic of Iran significantly escalated its war effort against the U.S. with its launch of two intermediate-range ballistic missiles on Friday toward Diego Garcia, a key U.S.-U.K. military base in the Indian Ocean.

The targeting of Diego Garcia, roughly 2,500 miles from Iran, means Tehran’s missile capabilities appear to have exceeded previously acknowledged limits.

In the period leading up to Operation Epic Fury Feb. 28, Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed, "We intentionally kept the range of our missiles below 2,000 kilometers so we don’t have that capability. And we don’t want to do that because we do not have hostility against the United States people and all Europeans."

On Saturday, Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said, "Just yesterday, Iran launched a two-stage intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 4,000 kilometers [2,500 miles] toward an American target on the island of Diego Garcia. These missiles were not intended to hit Israel. Their range reaches the capitals of Europe — Berlin, Paris and Rome are all within direct threat range."

IDF spokesman Nadav Shoshani blasted the alleged Iranian deception on X, writing, "Just 3 days before the war, the Iranian regime said they don’t obtain long-range missiles. Today, their lies were exposed once again, when missiles were fired 4000km away from Iran. They hoped to lie their way into becoming a force that can terrorize the world. We didn’t buy it."

They could reach London with another 800 or so miles. That would get their attention.

My understanding is that Iran shot the rocket about 2500 miles to the island of Diego Garcia. That does not mean the rocket’s range is 2500 miles. That means the range is AT LEAST 2500 miles, and probably far enough to hit London.

100% justifiable now. Those could reach many NATO allies, with “who knows” what type of war head.

All it did was validate an “imminent threat”, if they lied about this, what else might they have been lying about - we can’t wait until they reach their aspirations, a ballistic missile with a nuclear warhead.

Launching this was a mistake, although it’s a demonstration that they’re desperate.

I think it's a message that the IRGC is in charge in Iran after Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's death," Brodsky said. "When Khamenei was alive, he limited the range of Iran's missile program to 2,000 kilometers. Khamenei recounted in 2018 how he had rejected overtures from IRGC commanders seeking to increase the range to as much as 5,000 kilometers. But now that he has died, those voices in the IRGC seeking to increase the range are likely driving the agenda."

So we killed Khamenei, and now Iran feels compelled to escalate?

Wow, how dare they. /s

All Iran has to is place a dirty bomb device on top of this long range missile. Or a strong bio-war agent. Fire it off to London Paris or Turin. Then accuracy is not so important.

Turin? I’m curious to know why you included Turin in your list.

More easy to smuggle a device in a cargo vessel or aircraft

To me the bigger picture is not what they(Iran) are doing now but what they would have been capable of doing in the future.

What they have been doing is not defensive in nature, and their behavior has not been one of a neighbor who wish just to be left alone.

Do any of Iran’s neighbors have missile cities or any thing like the offensive capabilities they have built?

Iran has always counted on plausible deniability. If a nuke cooks off on a ship in a harbor, Iran can just say they didn’t do it. When their allies in Yemen shoot at our ships with Iranian missiles and drones, Iran denies it was them.

If we kill a high ranking politician every time they fire off a rocket, they will quit firing off rockets.

What if???

Why not a true bomb?

Could they get one and we don’t know?

What if...

North Korea to Russia mixed in with other weapons.

Then from Russia to Iran as part of their weapons purchases from them?

With all those transactions, what if 1 was smuggled every 6 months for a year or two?

Let’s say I announce I’m going to fly to the moon. I manage to get 2 feet off the ground.

That’s what happened here. As reported at https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5yljdgwppzo:

“The Wall Street Journal and CNN reported on ballistic missiles being fired at Diego Garcia, citing unnamed US officials, but said that neither weapon reached its target.

“One of the missiles reportedly failed in flight, while the other was intercepted by a US warship. The BBC understands the reports are accurate.”

This sounds like neocon fear pr0n, another “Saddam has chemical weapons and WMD and rape rooms and cookies with gluten” sensation.

And just like that, we’re not talking about illegal immigration, out of control spending, or the midterms.

Quoth Johnny Rotten: Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?

Considering the fanatical nature of the regime and IRGC, I am not if that applies.

The key component still is a general uprising by population to take out the whole system and replace it.

Going after command and control, financials and even things like IRGC check points can facilitate that happening, but will it and when.

These days everyone expects quick and clean results, the world doesn’t work that way esp with these orthodox islamists.

It is very tragic, much like Russia, Iran could be a very successful country if domination was not their number one priority

No wonder the Dems like the Iranians. Both lie for no reason and can’t be trusted any farther than I can throw my house.
