Pittsburgh police officers did not intervene as Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents struggled to detain a suspect near a police station, and claims circulated that officers were told to stand down.

What happened to the off duty bars or are they only on my detective movies and tv series? Some grudges could be settled in those.
The police chief said he didn’t know anything about any stand-down order. It guess that was good enough for KDKA to drop the story.
But it was reported by Fox and Yahoo.

as law enforcement, we have a duty and an obligation to respond to ANY emergency situation when requested. This includes emergency calls for assistance from other law enforcement agencies. When we receive a call for help, we do not ask WHO needs help. We simply go and assess the situation once we arrive at the scene. To refuse to help in an emergency would create both a legal and ethical dilemma for our police officers. Specifically, as it relates to assisting ICE, PBP officers have been instructed to respond to emergency calls for back-up, assist in rendering the scene safe, then return to service.
Sorry, but I don’t buy that message from the chief.
Let’s say that a Pittsburgh police officer is walking down a sidewalk. And a deputy sheriff is ahead of him, struggling with a man. Would the police officer just stand there until the deputy asks for help? Or until the sheriff’s office calls in a request? They would move.
Well, maybe now they would wait. The old-time Pittsburgh cops that I knew wouldn’t wait for permission, a request, or anything like that. They’d rush in to help, then let the bosses sort everything out later.
But today… I guess wokeness seems to be the rule in every D city.
I would really be surprised if any police officer would obey an order to stand down if they saw another officer struggling to subdue a suspect. That is just not something that a normal cop would do no matter what their politicized management and political appointees may order.
I think the far-lefties are right. Local yokel, donut munching fuzz need to be disbanded. They don’t do anything but listen to the Screamin banshee, bosses. Scroungy mayors and governors who are all lesbians, Karens and braindead, and ditzy, former 80s “Girls Gone Wild.”
DEI especially female DEI would drive off to get some ribs .
