A school in Canada designated its cafeteria as a “no food space” to support fasting Muslim students during Ramadan — sparking a firestorm online as critics questioned the decree’s fairness.
The Fairview School in Calgary, Alberta shot into the spotlight after reports emerged of the controversial policy that created food-free zones during select hours to accommodate students during the holy month.
The cafeteria was labeled a “no food space” during the first half of the lunch hour for fourth through sixth graders. It remains a “no food space” for the older students’ entire lunch hour, according to a leaked email seen by the Calgary Herald.
On rainy days, the school’s learning commons operates as the set no food space for all students, the email said.
“Ramadan is a month of reflection, prayer, generosity and community. We extend our warm wishes to all who are observing, and remain committed to ensuring our school is a supportive and respectful environment,” the Fairview School wrote in the email.

Do they ban meat on Fridays during Lent?
Oh... And don’t forget the dogs. No dogs at school... Ever!
Good bye Canada ...
It’s been good to know ya
Bend over and take it like a goat
How about THEY adjust?
The problem with giving in to the Muslims is you give an inch, they will take a mile. The next thing is no one will be allowed to eat at this school during Ramadan. They wouldn’t do this for Christians. Why do they do it for Muslims? I’ll tell you...FEAR!
What? We can't let anything get in the way of First Nations kids being fed!
You’re Muslim? You’re fasting during Ramadan? OK, your religion calls for that. Do it. I’m not going to interfere.
But you don’t get to tell me what, when, and where I can eat becuase I’m not a member of your religion. That would violate my religious freedom.
It seems to me that muslims in the middle east have put their oil money to good use by buying Western politicians.
Seems to me a not eating status is a choice by certain people and should not inconvenience other students. The islamic students participating in this ritual are surrounded by food every day and since they choose not to partake, then shutting down an area of the food facility for them is not in the best interest of the majority of students. And placing the youth students that are participating in a food area is unfair to them by forcing them to be tempted by their religious choice. So, find them a place in the library or on the play area for them to do what they wish to accomplish. But don’t take away from other students who wish to consume food in a comfortable, non-pressured situation.

Tell that to the peanut allergy freaks
Why are muslims in the cafeteria when they’re not supposed to eat anyway , just taking up space or just to annoy to force their Cult on others
If this is ok... then let’s make all public streets and sidewalks “no Muslim praying” spaces. Let them take it behind closed doors to their homes, or mosques so I’m not offended by them shoving their asses in the air in public.
Raghead Hosers, eh?
Why can’t non muzzies eat? It makes no sense.
It would be interesting to know how many muzzies are in the Calgary school. Guaranteed no Christian holiday traditions are being observed.
Whoa. Jihad at the Fairview school. Unfair to the non-jihadists.
So nobody eats ? Seriously?
