“Sources close to Pahlavi’s network indicate that the communications include expressions of loyalty to his mission to lead a transition toward democracy in the event of the regime’s collapse. The contacts have reportedly come from individuals within the regular army, the Republican Guard, police forces and intelligence services. The outreach follows recent Israeli air strikes inside Iran, which reportedly damaged key installations and killed senior military figures—events that Pahlavi described as “Khamenei’s war,” rather than Iran’s war. He has positioned himself not as a monarch seeking restoration, but as a civilian figure aiming to guide a democratic transition led by the Iranian people.“

That is going to be a mess. The IRGC is much larger and better trained than the Iranian military. And probably better armed. The Army is just conscripts. The Republican Guard are fanatic dead-Enders.
How does anyone know if they truely want to defect? I am skeptical about defections.
If they want to defect, they should frag their superior.
Delusional wishful thinking. Same thinking would lead one to imagine Catholic Vatican residents wish to overthrow the Pope.
Slowly at first, then all at once. When individuals and pairs working checkpoints get smoked often enough, fragging superior will seem an appealing auction
The Iranian regular army is a resonably professional military that is under the thumb of the IRGC and Basaji in much the same way the political officers and commissars maintained control of the Soviet Army under Stalin
They outnumber the IRGC and if they defect the Islamic State and the IRGC are dead - literally.
Hopefully, any military against the IRGC will have a better outcome since many of the IRGC leaders are dead from the US and Israel bombing the crap out of the IRGC. IF the Persian military does rise up, they’ll have plenty of air support…..maybe ground support too.
King Charles has a home in Romania…..he’s been screwed up his entire life.
Probably propaganda, but a nice touch nonetheless. Keeps everyone guessing.
That is what we call a good start.
We will provide aerial cover with our perpetually redirected aircraft carriers !
“The IRGC is much larger and better trained than the Iranian military.”
You sure they’re larger?
“Yes, the conventional
Iranian Army (Artesh) is larger in total personnel than the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The Army has roughly 350,000–420,000+ active personnel, while the IRGC has approximately 150,000–210,000. “
And I believe the ratio is improving by the day.
But you’re right about training and skill.
>> They were convicted on all charges, sentenced to death, and immediately executed on Christmas Day 1989.
The film of that event is Must-See TeeVee! :-) A repeat in Iran would be cool.
I’m praying for the Persians to succeed and take their country back from the psycho-mullahs.
Stranger things have happened!……..like Trump turning his head.
I wouldn’t trust them.
Undoubtedly some will try to attack from te inside. That is the risk of overthrowing any government.
>> Delusional wishful thinking.
Thanks a lot there, Debbie Downer.
Isn’t it time for your nightly vaccine shot?
But I have to ask — what exactly makes YOU an expert enough on Iranian internal affairs to register such an asinine comparison with the Vatican?
throw a naked dead boy in the popemobile
Owen’s the kind of chap, who, upon winning a multimillion dollar Lotto, would remark “Sure. But think of the TAXES!”
>> Stranger things have happened!……..like Trump turning his head.
...and from the same divine Source of Providence!
I’m praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Iranian people that cause them to turn to CHRIST. To borrow your point — stranger things have happened!
Remembering the Persian King Cyrus the Great who blessed the exiled Jews in the 6th century BC...
Correct, handle it internal.
Defectors should not be trusted.
