That is going to be a mess. The IRGC is much larger and better trained than the Iranian military. And probably better armed. The Army is just conscripts. The Republican Guard are fanatic dead-Enders.

Social and economic malaise had been present in the Socialist Republic of Romania for quite some time, especially during the austerity years of the 1980s. The austerity measures were designed in part by Ceaușescu to repay the country's foreign debts but resulted in widespread shortages that fomented unrest. Shortly after a botched public speech by Ceaușescu in the capital Bucharest that was broadcast to millions of Romanians on state television, rank-and-file members of the military switched, almost unanimously, from supporting the dictator to backing the protesters. Riots, street violence and murders in several Romanian cities over the course of roughly a week led the Romanian leader to flee the capital city on 22 December with his wife, Elena. Evading capture by hastily departing via helicopter effectively portrayed the couple as both fugitives and also seemingly guilty of accused crimes. Captured in Târgoviște, they were tried by a drumhead military tribunal on charges of genocide, damage to the national economy, and abuse of power to execute military actions against the Romanian people. They were convicted on all charges, sentenced to death, and immediately executed on Christmas Day 1989.

This what I kind of expected to happen too.

The Iranian regular army is a resonably professional military that is under the thumb of the IRGC and Basaji in much the same way the political officers and commissars maintained control of the Soviet Army under Stalin

They outnumber the IRGC and if they defect the Islamic State and the IRGC are dead - literally.

Hopefully, any military against the IRGC will have a better outcome since many of the IRGC leaders are dead from the US and Israel bombing the crap out of the IRGC. IF the Persian military does rise up, they’ll have plenty of air support…..maybe ground support too.

Iranian Army (Artesh) is larger in total personnel than the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The Army has roughly 350,000–420,000+ active personnel, while the IRGC has approximately 150,000–210,000. “
