Trump warns NATO of 'very bad' future if allies don't help secure Strait of Hormuz
Fox News ^ | March 16, 2026 | Eric Mack

President Donald Trump sent his clearest warning yet to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on Sunday: Stand with the U.S. for defense of the Strait of Hormuz or face a "very bad" future.

"It's only appropriate that people who are the beneficiaries of the strait will help to make sure that nothing bad happens there," Trump told The Financial Times in an interview Sunday. "If there’s no response, or if it’s a negative response, I think it will be very bad for the future of NATO."

Trump echoed those remarks in a press gaggle aboard Air Force One on Sunday night, returning to Washington, D.C., from a weekend at Mar-a-Lago, saying it would "be nice to have other countries police that with us, and we'll help – we'll work militarily."

"Remember, like as an example of many cases that NATO countries, we're always there for NATO," Trump told reporters, pointing to "helping them with Ukraine" even though "between us, it doesn't affect us."

NATO is a joke. When the chips are down, they all head for the tall grass.

Fighting the chronic Euro complacency, challenging NATO members to man up. We’ll see who is serious about their vaunted collective security doctrine, and who is still riding for free.

Our President deliberately started a major war without consulting any nation affected by the flow of commerce through the region with the exception of Israel. In addition he failed to get the Declaration of War required by the Constitution he swore an oath to defend.

Now he wants the assistance of allies and other nations he ignored and dissed.

It appears he is learning the lesson in personal accountability most of us learned as children. If you break something, you own it. Unfortunately, it is the people of the United States, not Donald Trump, who will own for decades to come the repercussions of the dominoes that will fall from the decision to engage in a full fledge war against Iran.

It may be our allies turn their backs. Hopefully Mr. Trump, his advisors, and the military considered this possibility and have a plan to carry on alone. If not, the cost of error could be extraordinarily high and painful.

if the body bags of American soldiers, sailors, and airmen begin coming back in significant numbers, it may be the American people demanding regime change at home.

Kier Starmer, Emmanuel Macron, Anthony Albanese, Pedro Sanchez and Mark Carney all serve their (anti-Christ) NWO Globalists and WEF masters.

Their plans do not include a strong and free USA leading the world.

Trump

Is

Negotiating!

Many have never actually engaged in a consequential negotiation in their entire adult lives.

If you are one of these people, consider whether that fact is clouding your ability to evaluate Trump’s actions as POTUS (being that: He’s always negotiating).

Really, and President Trump has been such a failure at everything else he has tried?

If the NATO countries don't get on board they are going to badly regret it. No telling what oil will cost them in the future, President Trump's future.

I am for this war. It is a “war of choice” but the choice for me is a war now when Iran is historically weak vs. a war in a couple years when Iran has 10 times as many missiles and perhaps a couple dirty nuclear bombs. As a war of choice, I understand that it had to be a surprise with no real ability for the US and Israel to build a coalition like Bush Sr and Bush Jr did for Iraq (although a lot of good it did for Bush Jr in Iraq). So Trump went into this knowing he was going it alone. So does NATO, or do other US allies have some obligation to join Trump’s war efforts? No. But like the US, they should make their own calculation of whether it is in their own national interest now - at this point - to take certain actions like keeping the shipping lanes open. That is not a clear answer - there are arguments on both sides. Let’s put it this way. If the US takes over Kharg Island and controls Iran’s oil, you can be damn sure we won’t be prioritizing giving oil to anyone who did not assist in keeping shipping lanes open. And NATO countries, Japan and Australian can whine and cry about international law all they want.

Interesting that Trump separated the attack on Iran from the shipping problem. The shipping issue affects all nations while iran doesn’t. We benefit by taking away Iran ability to attack us but don’t benefit as much for getting oil to market.

I demand that people like you be hunted down and imprisoned for sedition by encouraging this nation to abandon a just war against a bloody regime which has killed THOUSANDS who protested against it and blackmails the world over oil, yet sells it inexpensively to our enemy China. (Draws breath) Then, you would find out what I have in mind for people like you. I am beyond being diplomatic about any of this anymore. If you're arguing for Iran, then you approve the deaths of many more Americsns by muslim radicals everywhere, (funded by Iran). You simply have NO idea of the monster you are beginning to bring out in some Americans, especially me.

This is the kind of post I’d expect on a liberal site.
You did use fewer exclamation points, so there’s that.

Have you paid attention for the past 10 years bro?

As he did at SOTU, President Trump just asked our allies to stand. They choose to remain seated. Bending the knee for our enemies to see.
