Iran's new Supreme Leader is 'in good health' and 'fully controlling the situation', says Iranian foreign minister Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has said in an interview with London-based pan-Arab news outlet Alaraby Aljadeed that Mojtaba Khamenei is 'in good health' and 'fully controlling the situation'.
He said Iran welcomes any 'regional initiative that lead to a fair end of the war', and Hormuz is 'open to everyone except US ships and [US] allies'.
Araghchi has said 'there is no particular initiative on the table so far to end the war'.
Iran has insisted its new Supreme Leader is not dead and is 'fully managing the situation' after US President Donald Trump questioned if he is still alive.
Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen in public since his appointment on March 8, and his first public address was read by a presenter during a broadcast by state media on March 12.
Speaking to London-based news outlet The New Arab, Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said Mojtaba Khamenei is 'in good health' and 'fully controlling the situation'.
He said Iran welcomes any 'regional initiative that lead to a fair end of the war', and Hormuz is 'open to everyone except US ships and [US] allies'.
Araghchi has said 'there is no particular initiative on the table so far to end the war'.
In an interview with NBC news yesterday, the US President said he's hearing Mojtaba Khamenei is 'not alive', adding that 'so far, nobody's been able to show him'.
Trump's comments come a day after Pete Hegseth, the war secretary, said the new leader was likely 'disfigured' after being wounded in US-Israeli attacks.
Mojtaba Khamenei's father, Ali Khamenei, who had ruled Iran for 37 years, was killed when his compound in Tehran was razed to the ground
