Calif. governor's race poll shows former Fox News host leading

Republican Steve Hilton, a British-born former Fox News commentator, continues to lead the governor’s race as Democrats remain divided over a favored candidate.

Hilton received support from 19% of likely voters, according to a poll released Wednesday from the UC Berkeley Citrin Center for Public Opinion Research and Politico. Following him is Tom Steyer, a billionaire Democrat, with 13% support. Former Rep. Katie Porter, current Rep. Eric Swalwell, both Democrats, and Chad Bianco, the Republican sheriff of Riverside County, are tied with 11% support.

Even with a June primary election approaching, the governor’s race remains crowded, and polling has been anything but consistent. Prior polls have shown Hilton has an edge with likely voters and that there is oscillating support for the top three Democratic candidates, with Porter, Swalwell and Steyer playing political musical chairs in the rankings. It is clear, however, that they are the top three Democratic contenders right now.

Those leading candidates are followed by the lingering Democrats with polling in the single digits. Xavier Becerra, the former health and human services secretary in the Biden administration, had 5% of likely voter support in Politico’s latest poll. Antonio Villaraigosa, the former mayor of Los Angeles, had 4%; Matt Mahan, the mayor of San Jose, had 3%; former state Controller Betty Yee had 2%; and state Superintendent Tony Thurmond had 1%.

The truly bizarre thing is the strange way California has primaries now. The top two become the final candidates. There are so many Rats running it might end up as two Republicans running again each other!

Hope he wins. Problem is that all other govt positions are dem. He will not be able to pass anything to make significant changes. Remember dems WANT America to fail. I don’t know why but they do.

Trump is changing the globe to put America first and dems want failure.

As I noted last time this was discussed, that won’t be allowed to happen.

If two Rs emerge as #1 and #2 in the jungle primary, the legislature will put an overriding Constitutional amendment on the November ballot nullifying the runoff and either directly electing the top Democrat as Governor or setting a special election for December in which the top June vote recipient of each party will contend. The amendment will easily pass and a Democrat will succeed Newsom. This is bread and butter stuff for SEIU, CTA, AFSCME, and CNA.

“There are so many Rats running it might end up as two Republicans running again each other!”

Although it is completely different political race the results are the same, one might remember Commie Conyers who was in Congress for over 50 years in the ghetto of deep Detroit. Fast forward when he finally croaked and left an open seat — there was 7 or 8 black guys running for the seat, Conyers III spawn, Detroit city council friends and the like.

This is how that fat, ugly muzzie got in that ghetto Detroit district. There is no such thing as a republican there so the primary winner is the final winner, all the votes got spread out over their buddies and that fat-mouth muzzie Tlaib got in.

I want to see Hilton win. He’s a patriot, has pride in his citizenship, supports MAGA/Trump, knows where the problems are, is on the right track for making California great again, does not appear to be in it for the Hollywood fame, has the will to succeed, has no swirl(s) of controversy surrounding him or inability to deal with manufactured controversy, has a better command of the English language,...And he’s not an asshole. So, what’s not to like?

I don't see it going that far. The Biden South Carolina gambit will likely go into play with the lower tier candidates being "persuaded" to drop out.

He was one of the more intelligent and sane ones on Fox News.
He’s a populist that believes the people should be the ruling class vs. the corrupt ‘elites”...

Boost Chad? Boost him out of the race. He’s a damn flipper and closeted RINO.

I’d rather see the sheriff win. Why? it scares the crap out of the left knowing any California governor is in line for the WH. Hilton the limey is ineligible.

Summer 2028-GOP convention in Sacramento. That would be awesome.

Steve Hilton appeared at a candidate forum sponsored by the Pat Nixon Republican Women Federated in Yorba Linda last week and was very impressive.

Chad seems to have a lot of support among conservatives--at least the ones who post on Facebook. However, I have a couple of issues with him. For one thing, he and his fellow deputies knelt down before a mob of Black Lives Matter protesters in 2020. He and his supporters have never satisfactorily explained away this incident, which you can watch on Youtube and other sites.

The other issue that I have is that he recently came out for a "path to citizenship" for illegal aliens. So my vote is going to Steve Hilton.
