US President Donald Trump on Thursday endorsed Brandon Herrera, the de facto GOP nominee for a Texas congressional district whose past comments about Nazis have drawn scrutiny.
“Brandon is strongly supported by many Highly Respected MAGA Warriors in Texas, and Republicans in the U.S. House," the President wrote on his social network Truth Social about the gun-enthusiast YouTuber. Trump added that Herrera would “[p]rotect our always under siege Second Amendment" and concluded, “HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"
Herrera won his primary race after his opponent, incumbent Rep. Tony Gonzales, admitted to having conducted an affair with a former staffer who later died by suicide. Gonzales withdrew from his reelection bid, which was scheduled for a runoff, as a House investigation opened into his conduct.
Herrera is best known for his Second Amendment advocacy that has included criticizing a gun-control bill drafted in the wake of the 2022 Uvalde school shooting in the district he hopes to lead. His output has also included reviews of Nazi-era weaponry, a recreation of Hitler’s suicide, and the occasional Holocaust joke.
In 2024, on his own podcast, Herrera also discussed owning a copy of “Mein Kampf," Hitler’s manifesto. The resurfaced clip recently raised eyebrows, though Herrera and the other podcast hosts lauded Dorothy Thompson, an American journalist expelled from Nazi Germany who panned the book in 1939, and joked about his remarks being edited to sound like he was a Nazi. Herrera recently said he didn’t agree with its “teachings."

Nazi literature and the history of Nazi Germany and Nazism needs to be studied. It's the only way to remain vigilant against its reemergence.
I remember from the 1970s/80s, the TV show V, about an alien race, pretending to be benefactors of humanity, while using fascistic tactics to isolate scientists from society, while conspiring to drain all of earth's natural resources and toss the remainder aside like an empty beer can. They did their homework on fascism for that show, as absurd as it became by the "Final Battle" series.
That’s quite a misleading headline to make an implication of something entirely different than the reality.
I read all of the Koran, Mein Kampf, and Communist Manifesto. I hate all three, but you must be able to debate people on what the text says and not what you’re told about it.
You can’t say never again if you don’t know what the “never” is...
Arutz Sheva must be Israel’s AP.
Who we elect is our business, not the business of people in another country.
I own a Mein Kampf and a Quran
I find them rhetorically similar. They have common themes of struggle, paranoia, us-versus-them, and calls to purification
He also owns The Communist Manifesto. My pastor uncle has a Quran in his library. “Know your enemy”, at the very least.
Oh noz! Owns a copy? So does the local library.
I guess historians will want to turn themselves in.
“...I read all of the Koran, Mein Kampf, and Communist Manifesto. I hate all three, but you must be able to debate people on what the text says and not what you’re told about it....”
^THIS^
Same here. I actually still have a copy of the Koran and Mein Kampf.
That does NOT make me an adherant to Islam and/or Nazism.
Instead, I’m more informed what the vile basstids actually read and believe.
This is so stupid to criticize this guy for even talking about it....
Remember, it was a best seller in Arab nations for awhile.
The MSM have gone full-tilt into sliming Brandon Herrera because their boy Gonzales has dropped out and the Dems don't really have a credible chance to carry Texas's 23d District. Too. Damn. Bad.
I've never owned Mein Kampf, nor read it, but my son owns a copy and has read it, and he's the farthest thing from a fascist.
"Nazi literature and the history of Nazi Germany and Nazism needs to be studied. It's the only way to remain vigilant against its reemergence."
Exactly. I've read many documented books on Hitler, his fellow Nazis, the history of Third Reich, Germany before Hitler, Germany during Hitler's reign, detailed accounts about the concentration camps, resistance fighters, Jews that fought for Hitler, Nazi hunters, transcripts of the Nuremberg Trials, psychiatric interviews with the Nuremberg defendents and the witnesses that appeared, etc., because it's important to know the history of that time, how, and why it happened.
I can dislike them equally, without having to read their rubbish.
I had a copy once. Probably lost in a move.
That is a problem?! It is not known how to fight the enemy unless you know how he/they think. It is history. That is one of the most lame accusations I have ever heard.
I think I have a copy of Mein Kampf, in storage, in English. I read maybe 30 pages of it.
It is helpful to understand his perspective to learn from it.
That’s quite a misleading headline to make an implication of something entirely different than the reality
