Trump is hard to keep up with. I think the media is overwhelmed.

Generally we have been OK with Latin American dictators, as long as they are “our” dictators.

Trump is a pragmatist. He has neutered the Venezuelan government. It doesn’t matter what they want to do, Trump has the checkbook. I’m sure he traded for the recognition. I’ll bet the US has acquired a lot of Chinese gear, much of which is their latest stuff. There are probably a lot of other concessions, so it is unlikely the current government is going to do anything Trump doesn’t like while he’s president.

Looking at the alternative, taking the current government out of power would require boots on the ground. Thank God we’re not trying to make Venezuela into Texas. The Forever War proved that won’t work.

What bothers me is how the pragmatism will work in Iran. Now the US and Israeli political and war Venn diagrams have a lot of overlap. But at some point, Trump will decide that leaving a theocracy in place that he thinks he can control is good enough. On the other hand, we did hire him to make the tough calls. If he leaves an ayatollah in place I suspect, we’ll have a good grip on his testicles for a long time.

How can this be? Bannon, Tucker, and Candace said we were going to need boots on the ground to do this?? Must be the Joos.

It is not pragmatic to keep these cycles going on permanently.

We need the cycles to end. I mean that both domestically as well as foreign.

Replacing one theocrat with another theocrat (Iran) just keeps the theocracy cycle going. Replacing one deep stater with another deep stater(Cornyn/Paxton)(Also Lindsey Graham) just keeps the deep state cycle going. Replacing one communist with another communist(Venezuela) just keeps the communist cycle going.

Domestically we get a few temporary wins here and there. Yay, a few people got fired at the department of whatever and another department of whatever. But all of the departments are still in place.

Every.
Last.
One.
Of.
Them.

About the only thing that’s long lasting have been the Supreme Court nominations. And the border wall. Everything else is temporary and continues cycles that were in place before the Trump presidency. All of the cycles continue. Because of the cycles continuing, in 20 years it will almost be as if the Trump Presidency had never happened.

They’ll just hire more new people for the department of whatever in 5 or 10 years, the theocrats and communists deep staters are still in place, cycling like they have done for decades.

Big picture man. Big picture. We are not winning.

From what i heard, Venezuela is turning corner.
Prisoners are released, business is returning, the country is heading for election.
Looks like instead of forceful regime change, Trump is opting for slower pace change.
Somewhat like the East Europe departure from communism.
Delcy will be removed eventually, by free election, but as long she is doing what we want, why not let her be there?

Maybe the goal is to keep her in place until they can get an actual legitimate in fair election lined up, and then let the population vote the same way they did last time which is overwhelmingly for capitalism

That way, the regime change can be seen as democratic, legitimate, and peaceful

Correct. But it will only take 20 minutes for everything Trump has done to disappear.

Delcy Rodríguez is an actual communist.

But now she's Trump's communist.

Has nobody read "The Art of the Deal"?

I mean, he pretty much laid it all out exactly how his mind operates and he never deviates from the words he published in his best seller.

Trump is hard to keep up with. I think the media is overwhelmed.

I'm reminded of being in college, watching the Berlin Wall fall, and Eastern European communism fall right alongside it.

Things were happening so fast heads were spinning. Entire established world orders, decades old, upended in blinding quickness.

As Lenin himself is alleged to have said, "There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen."

And now President Trump is putting this quote to demonstration.

What if he recognized, legally, Rodriguez as the new Supreme Leader of Iran and the President of Greenland?

Then all the troops come home before the election.

She has fired a dozen generals. Fired the Attorney General. She is replacing the Minister of Defense. Arrested Maduro’s money launderers. Her secret police are working with our FBI. She has opened the door to our oil and mining companies. All of this at Rubio’s behest. Her oil money is being handled by the US so they can’t steal it.

We haven’t had to land troops, they are inviting us to set up a military base. The army hasn’t rebelled. The Cubans and Iranians are gone. The Chinese are limited to finishing up their contracts.

So far so good.

Delcy Rodríguez is an actual communist.

But she saw what happened to Maduro and realized that the same could and would happen to her if she didn’t do what President Trump wants.

Although she was VP under Maduro, she has shown that she’s brighter than some of our democrat VPs or VP wannabes, cough, cough Biden, Harris, Walz.
