Families of failed asylum seekers will be paid up to £40,000 to leave Britain under a new Government pilot scheme.
Migrants who cooperate with the system and leave the UK within seven days will receive payments of up to £10,000 per person, capped at four per family, as part of the Home Office plan.
Some 150 families living in taxpayer-funded hotels were sent messages on Thursday informing them that they can take part in the trial.
Shadow home secretary Chris Philp said: “This is an insult to the British taxpayer… Offering £40,000 to failed asylum seekers to leave the country will only reward and incentivise illegal immigration.”
But hitting back at suggestions the plan will attract more migrants to the UK, a Home Office spokesperson said: “This is not a pull factor.
“Illegal migrants pay smugglers tens of thousands of pounds to get to Britain.
“If those families offered the time-limited payment refuse, we will forcibly remove them.”
Home Office minister Alex Norris also defended the scheme and said it could save the British taxpayer £20million in hotel costs.

Actually, NGOs pay it.
Well, Britain paid the slave owners to emancipated their slaves in the day too. It is a British thing.
I wonder If they had considered tents where the illegals landed in the UK?
Porta-potties, cold water showers, and outdoor cooking.
Welcome to UK!
And paddle your inner tube over for another go!
Hmmm.
Britain not too bright.

Get 40K rinse and repeat........
Idiot Home Office minister Alex Norris said it could save the British taxpayer 20 million #s in hotel costs.
How About Not Putting Them Up In Hotels you moron ?
That’s what my friend who is a landlord does, pays people to leave her rental houses.
Hey Brits, you know at some point the money runs out but your stupidity will last forever.
The Home Office is clearly high on drugs. That, or just outright lying to the world. Maybe both.
Call it what it is: Danegeld!
It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,Regards,For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say: –
"We never pay any-one Dane-geld,No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that plays it is lost!"
