President Trump’s political advisers expect him to endorse Senator John Cornyn in Texas’s May 26 Republican-primary runoff election following the incumbent’s better-than-expected finish against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the first round of voting yesterday, three people briefed on the deliberations told us.
Trump declined to get involved in the race before the first round of voting, and Republican Senate strategists had been worried that he wouldn’t endorse Cornyn, who has been critical of the president in the past. Strategists have also warned that Paxton, a scandal-scarred favorite of Trump’s MAGA base, would need more money from top GOP donors than Cornyn would require to defeat the Democratic nominee, James Talarico. Estimates of the added cost of Paxton being the nominee in the general election range from about $80 million to more than $200 million, according to several top strategists, given the Democrats’ ability to raise massive sums of money in the state from individual donors if the race is perceived as winnable.

NO!
If he does we will vote for Paxton anyway.
The Atlantic?
You wish.
I can’t believe Trump would be so clueless as to endorse a backstabbing Cornhole.
Fact-free progressive chatter based on made-up inside information from anonymous sources.
Progressives and RINOs fear Ken Paxton, bigly!
Dear sir, would you like to be shot or hung? I’ve never felt an experienced hatred for a political figure quite like Cornyn. He is everything unethical, immoral, disloyal to that which is good, and just a general piece of $Hite, than a Hackckckckeeem Jefferies or Junck Schumer
>> If he does we will vote for Paxton anyway.
Even if I have to write him in!
It’s curious that in all the back-and-forth since Tuesday, we have yet to hear from Wesley Hunt...
Disappointing, but I learned a long time ago, don’t try to predict what Trump will do.
He will, unfortunately.
booooooooo
Trump’s reality: Cornyn is still in the Senate and will turn into an (overt) enemy for the remainder of his term if Trump doesn’t endorse him. Politics at its (notso) finest.
That’s not fully surprising, but it’s still quite disappointing. Trump may be doing this because of how the total GOP power structure will be effected.
If this is what happens, it would be good and even prudent to find some suitable ‘consolation prize’ to offer Paxton for ‘being a Team Player. I don’t know what such a prize could be. I say ‘prudent’, because if this happens, Paxton is going to be highly upset and may question his ongoing loyalty to the GOP. We don’t need another MTG chatterbox on an Apology Tour for having supported MAGA concerns.
“... a backstabbing Cornhole.”
I tried to find something on him that was inconsistent with Trump’s work. I found this site and it reads that he is working with the party and Trump in particular:

Can you please display something that differs?

This tells me Cornyn has a better chance of beating Beto 2.0.
Remember, Beto 1.0 came within 2% of beating Cruz in 2018. Beto 2.0 is more dangerous. The Dems learned from their mistakes and with midterms and a fired-up liberal base, Republicans are already at a disadvantage.
Whatever it takes to keep the Senate.
Something really bad must be coming out about Paxton.
He’s hiding something. Hard to imagine he’s worse than Cornyn. Someone said Cornyn has never produced anything in office.. he was busy pushing the North American Union for decades to give Mexico everything it wanted. Cornyn sold out long ago.

An endorsement might not save him. We’ll elect Paxton anyway, the Chief of Staff be damned.
Endorsing Cornyn would get the same results as endorsing Tillis the last time around.
Agree, but I don’t think it will change anyone’s mind.
I also read that he’s getting ready to fire Noam.
At least make Thune pass the Save act as the price. Once again we get screwed because of base vote splitting. If there had one and only one conservative that scumbag Cornyn would be gone.
