CIA working to arm Kurdish forces to spark uprising in Iran, sources say

“Washington and Erbil, Iraq — The CIA is working to arm Kurdish forces with the aim of fomenting a popular uprising in Iran, multiple people familiar with the plan told CNN. The Trump administration has been in active discussions with Iranian opposition groups and Kurdish leaders in Iraq about providing them with military support, the sources said. Iranian Kurdish armed groups have thousands of forces operating along the Iraq-Iran border, primarily in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. Several of the groups have released public statements since the beginning of the war hinting at imminent action and urging Iranian military forces to defect. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been striking Kurdish groups and said on Tuesday that it targeted Kurdish forces with dozens of drones.”

Apparently, the arming the opposition is a hand. Sounds like it’s starting from western Iran…… John Ratcliffe must be very busy.

Kurds are Sunni, and they expect Shiite Iran to follow their lead?

It sort of tells you how futile this all is that we don’t get stories of Shiite groups being armed to rise up. Of course, if you did that, those groups would follow the direction of their religious leadership.

This silliness is like arming the 5 people in the Vatican who are not Catholic and look for an uprising against the Pope.

If the CIA is supposed to be earning their millions in budget money then how come we had to risk lives in military missions?

They do that and they might fragment Iran.
Maybe that’s the intention.

Of course they are. The CIA orchestrated the 1953 coup in Iran for MI6 using money and propaganda to oust Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh and reinstate the monarchy to Iran. Mosaddegh planned to nationalize Iran’s oil business, cutting Britain out, and the Brits, who couldn’t accomplish the coup on their own, sucked the US into it. The CIA specializes in coups.

I can dig it. Give credit to Senator Biden. It was his idea 20 years ago.

While most Iranian Kurds are Sunni, a major portion, particularly in the southern region (Kermanshah and Ilam), are Shiite.

Per CNN“Sources say…….”
Also, an Iranian drone blew up a CIA station at the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia as the agency works to arm militants for an uprising against the Islamic regime.
My question is-WHO leaked this to CNN???? And probably the IRGC….

While the dems are howling about how the US is becoming a fascist dictatorship, in many states they passed or are passing draconian gun laws banning the most effective small arm for fighting fascist dictatorships. Any time a dem pol deigns to answer questions they should be asked if they are happy that the Iranian civilian populace is disarmed and thus safer according to dems.

The Ayatollah or the Shah: don’t matter to the CIA. Their job is to ensure that enough fracture lines exist anywhere they operate to make sure the MIC will be fat, fed and happy for the next decades.

The United States abandoned the Kurds after Gulf War 1. And so the Kurds suffered greatly. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again.

That would be good. A US friendly country right next to Iran, Iraq and Erdogan.
