Sen. John Cornyn claims Texas AG Ken Paxton’s ‘vanity project’ will doom GOP in midterms, lead to Trump impeachment

Sen. John Cornyn claimed in his final pitch to voters that his opponent Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was pursuing a “vanity project” in the Senate Republican primary that would doom Republicans down ballot in the midterms — and risk a third impeachment of President Trump.

Cornyn (R-Texas) spoke to supporters at a civic center outside San Antonio on Monday — the day before the Texas primary elections — urging the GOP to avoid a “complacency” that would allow Democrats to reclaim a statewide office in Congress for the first time since 1994.

“Ken Paxton is engaged in a vanity project,” the four-term senator told attendees. “He doesn’t really care about what happens to the Republican Party or down ballot to these races, but I guarantee President Trump cares because he said, ‘If I lose the House, I’m gonna get impeached for a third time.'” “It’s shameful, but it’s true,” he said, noting earlier how he triumphed over Democrat M.J. Hegar in his last re-election bid by 10 percentage points.

Vote Paxton. This guy Cornyn is a known elitist traitor. Or are we supposed to like them now?

I don’t care what Cornyn has to say anymore. I’m voting for Paxton tomorrow.

Cornyn is anti-Trump behind closed doors.

Complete fake.

Remember, Cornyn was in charge of the 2010 Senate campaign, and he deliberately tanked three elections, so Obama wouldn’t have a minority in the Senate.

urging the GOP to avoid a “complacency”

Complacency by the GOP is the reason you've had the job so long, and you've screwed us long enough.

Buh bye.

The Republican tsunami in November will be epic.

If Paxton wins, will Sen. John Cornyn support him? That’s always the question.

Wow, desperation time for Cornyn with a month to go until the primary. Tea leaves say this RINO is cooked and done.

“Ken Paxton is engaged in a vanity project”

He sounds like one of those gaslighting Democrats prattling on about Trump's "secret plan" to do some unknown something they just came up with but can't talk about just now.

RINOs revenge.

If Cornyn loses, he’ll behave like a scorned woman. He’ll be a worse pain in the butt than the retiring Mitch McConnell and Thom Tillis.

I sent Cornyn a letter after I had been in Texas for a little over a year, I have always heard they take letters more seriously than email, and I wanted to see what his reply would be. I asked what law abiding gun owners took away from his arguably unconstitutional (I did not attack the legislation in my letter) gun legislation. He said he “negotiated” the legislation, but in my experience, in negotiations, both sides take a give. Did we get nationwide reciprocity? did we get legislation to protect magazine capacity? Seems, that would have been a good time to get a win for regular gun owners. All I got in return was a form letter suggesting all they did was look at my letter, and respond with the preflighted response to gun legislation.

Wesley Hunt is a better option. Strong conservative. Does not have Paxton’s baggage.

I have a great deal of animus for John Cornyn and hope he suffers the most humiliating defeat.

Hard pass on “splitter” Wesley Hunt. Probably being paid by Cornball to even be in the race.

He voted for 0bama and he’s a Crenshaw acolyte.

No, thanks.

Paxton’s baggage?? His divorce that only seems to attract the attention of John Cornyn?

Agreed, but he has no chance. He’ll force a runoff between Paxton and Cornyn.
