Secretary of War Pete Hegseth warned that some traditional U.S. allies are "hemming and hawing about the use of force" as Washington presses forward with its campaign against Iran, raising fresh questions about NATO cohesion at a moment of escalation.
Spain has refused U.S. permission to use certain bases for strikes on Iran, calling for de-escalation and adherence to international law. Turkey has criticized the operation and warned of broader regional destabilization, while President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he was "saddened" by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death and denied that Turkish territory was used in the campaign.
In a statement released on Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron said that, "The outbreak of war between the United States, Israel and Iran carries grave consequences for international peace and security." He added, "The ongoing escalation is dangerous for all. It must stop."

Turkey’s not our ally? Lol.
All with significant if not majority Mussie populations, is anyone shocked? Good luck with that cowering wussies.
Islam's perennial war against civilization is just fine with these Euro Weenies.
F**k international law. Does the government of Spain (or the clueless 'leadership' of the EU) think that Iran would ever give a flying F about international law? Or that the cartels in Mexico care about international law? Or China? Etc. etc.
We are going to need to shuffle the deck and find like-minded allies who value their right to self determinism and freedom. The EU is no better than a runaway condo association.
Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but didn't some European countries have economic interests in that area of the world (Iran)?
In the summer of 2025 Spain rejected the NATO requirement to fund 5% of their GDP for their country’s own defense. NATO then gave them a special dispensation, granting them a 2 1/2 percent rate. Time to toss that country to the curb, and any other that refuses to help the U.S. Even better, get the U.S. out of NATO and the U.N., and get the U.N. out of the U.S.
We negotiated w these people for months over desert storm.
France has just sent their nuclear Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier group, including a nuclear submarine.
The French defense minister :
“France stands ready, in accordance with the agreements that bind it to its partners and with the principle of collective self-defense provided under international law, to take part in their defense,” he said.
Iran has been killing American and French citizens for decades. There are French hostages in Iran as we speak…
Therefore, what Trump is doing now is vital for America’s future and Western civilization as a whole.
What is happening now is a game changer.
Thank you President Trump.
As soon as NATO needs to do NATO type things... The members of NATO scramble like mice.
They are cowardly little girls.
“B-b-but…No-Go Zones!!!”
Past time to dump NATO.
LOL! Right! And how many did they they send?!? 😄
This isn’t a NATO operation. Nobody attacked a fellow NATO country.
LOL
They are sending their carrier to the eastern med.
But they won’t shoot anything. You can take that to the bank.
And they will not stop criticizing the US operations.
Actually, Turkey IS our ally. They just can’t publicly admit it.
France has always been foul weather friends.
Exit NATO. Let Euroweenies pay their own Defence. Now is a good time.
Close every base, remove all assets and US troops to secure bases elsewhere with sovereign status.
If not available, just take the land. Like Greenland and Diego Garcia. Just declare it US territory and start governing it.
Bravo!
