A council of three Iranian officials with mixed beliefs is governing Iran after the US-Israeli assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and 40 of his top lieutenants left a gaping power vacuum in the Middle Eastern nation.
But the country’s notorious top nuclear and security official — Ali Larijani, the man allegedly behind Iran’s vicious crackdown on anti-regime protesters of recent months — could emerge as the most powerful man in the nation after the weekend’s chaos dies down, according to reports.
Larijani is not one of the three men currently running the country.
The three-person council was convened on Sunday — as directed by Iran’s constitution — and will run the country until an 88-person group known as the Assembly of Experts convenes to select a new supreme leader, according to CNN.
Members of the sitting leadership council are Iran’s moderate-leaning president Masoud Pezeshkian, the hardline conservative chief supreme court justice Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, and Ayatollah Alireza Arafi — a member of Iran’s Guardian council, which makes sure laws and officials adhere to strict Islamic values.

Here’s hoping that the US and Israel have a solid plan for changing government in Iran (and don’t just hope for the best).
I am in the minority here, but I have some real reservations about this. Seen this play a few times over the last 70 years, and it mostly ended badly for us. Lots of dead marines, soldiers, sailors, airmen, not to mention missing limbs, and being tormented by PTSD.
A council of three Iranian officials with mixed beliefs is governing Iran until they hear that sound
Someone needs to disable the Iranian access to TEAMS or ZOOM so the 88 “experts” have to meet in person.
May I suggest that Mr. Larijani be placed under arrest by the other two? Just a thought.
Those Iranians celebrating in LA, NYC and on the media may be a bit premature. While killing Iran’s supreme leader, some generals ,commanders and officials is impressive, the regime itself remains essentially intact. That regime is a web of thousands of people who control the oil industry and its revenues, the banks, the bazaars, the food, the army, the security forces and of course the goons that ruthlessly suppress the people. These people are not about to voluntarily give up power because they know what will happen to them. They and their syncophants will fight to the end. Notice that thus far the anticipated huge popular uprising has not occurred. This regime will only fall if there are American boots on the ground, bitter fighting and casualties. It won’t be easy or accomplished from the air. Unless the regime falls and the enriched uranium is seized, it will be a failure and great harm will come to America because the Democrats will win the Congressional 2026 election and the Presidency in 2028. Then the crazies will do all they can to destroy the American nation. Iran is not worth it.
Or just shoot him.
88-person group?
That’s kind of a specific number.
Like the keys on a piano, NFN.
More to the point, with respect to this fancy new “group”, it might be hard to achieve or maintain a quorum in the current environment!
The 3 are all marked for a short shelf life.
Along with many others.
Mr. Larijani Will have a short shelf life too.
Find him and kill him.
Not hearing about any special ops activities, helicopters, night vision videos, dudes waking up bleary-eyed in their t-shirts with their hair every which way and their women wailing and crying, abductions/arrests.
88 “LEADERS” WILL PICK A NEW LEADER???
88 ENEMY PERSONS CLUSTERED IN ONE PLACE-—BINGO!!
Over 8,000 Iranians - in Iran - who were protesting for regime change, have been murdered by the “Iranian Revolutionary SWAMP.”
This occasion, is the third peak that I remember - after a number of years, the people manage to rise enough to protest . . . and then are slaughtered.
In 1991, an Iranian friend told me, that the Iranian people will have to upset the “Iranian Revolutionary SWAMP” by themselves.
Sometime after 2001, while G. W. Bush was President, another uprising - I remember a young lady and her mother who were backed up against a fence, confronted by around 30 Iranian men. I wonder what happened to these protesters.
Last event, prior to today, was 8 (or a few more) years ago? I saved a photo of that young lady, too - she was assassinated by an “Iranian cultural revolutionary” up on a roof, where the regime had a lot of sharpshooters.
the Carter Withdrawal from Iran = the Biden Withdrawal from Afghanistan
... the CIA or Mossad find where they are.
You’re right. We should just wait for Iran to develop an over the pole ballistic missile capability and deploy biological and chemical payloads.
The reason why you know Hitler by name is because he wasn’t stopped when he should have been.
